The Chaos of Lima: A Perspective from the Traffic
I have always described Lima's traffic as one of the most chaotic I've experienced in my travels around the world. What should be short trips turn into endless journeys. Despite this, I had never taken the time to show you through photos the endless lines of cars that characterize our city.

Lima grew in an inorganic way, especially since the era of terrorism, when many people from the provinces migrated to the capital in search of opportunities and security. For the same reason, Lima is home to the best universities and main hospitals, and is arguably the most developed city in the country. This has led to a great concentration of people: while the largest cities in the provinces don't even reach a million inhabitants, in Lima we are around 15 million.

The city's disorganized growth is evident: the hills have been encroached upon and are now covered with informally built houses. The roads have not kept pace with the population, there are not enough buses, and the number of cars is multiplying, making the queues endless.

Despite everything, one gets used to living this way. The stress grows with every honk and every standstill, but now, unlike before, the cell phone keeps us company. Most passengers are "plugged in" to their devices, checking apps and watching videos. I, for my part, make good use of my time on the bus to do something productive, like creating posts for Ecency. I always try to find the positive side of this situation.

Here I leave you some photos so you can see what the traffic is like during rush hour. Although in reality it's like this almost all day, the most critical hours in my country are from 7 to 9 in the morning and from 5 to 9 at night. It's unbearable, but that's how we live. Despite everything, I love my Peru very much.

Hola querida comunidad en Blanco y Negro

El Caos de Lima: Una Perspectiva desde el Tráfico
Siempre he descrito el tráfico de Lima como uno de los más caóticos que he experimentado en mis viajes por el mundo. Tramos que deberían ser cortos se convierten en viajes interminables. A pesar de ello, nunca me había tomado la molestia de mostrarles en fotos las interminables filas de autos que caracterizan a nuestra ciudad.

Lima creció de forma inorgánica, especialmente a partir de la época del terrorismo, cuando muchas personas de provincia migraron a la capital en busca de oportunidades y seguridad. Por la misma razón, Lima alberga las mejores universidades, los principales hospitales y es, podría decirse, la ciudad más desarrollada del país. Esto genera una gran concentración: mientras que las ciudades más grandes de provincia no llegan a un millón de habitantes, en Lima somos alrededor de 15 millones.

El crecimiento desordenado de la ciudad es evidente: los cerros han sido invadidos y ahora están cubiertos de casas construidas de manera informal. Las carreteras no crecieron al ritmo de la población, los buses son insuficientes y los autos se multiplican, haciendo que las colas sean interminables.

A pesar de todo, uno se acostumbra a vivir así. El estrés crece con cada bocina y cada tramo estancado, pero ahora, a diferencia de antes, el celular nos acompaña. La mayoría de los pasajeros van "enchufados" a sus dispositivos, revisando aplicaciones y viendo videos. Yo, por mi parte, aprovecho mucho el tiempo en el bus para hacer algo productivo, como crear publicaciones para Ecency.

Siempre trato de sacarle el lado positivo a esta situación.

Aquí les dejo algunas fotos para que vean cómo se pone el tráfico en las horas punta. Aunque en realidad es así casi todo el día, las horas más críticas en mi país son de 7 a 9 de la mañana y de 5 a 9 de la noche. Es insoportable, pero así es como vivimos. A pesar de todo, amo mucho a mi Perú.
