El juego número 3 de esta serie mundial nos ha traído una página histórica de dos rivales dignos de un evento tan importante para el béisbol y su fanaticada. Una batalla que empezó en Toronto, y ahora llega a Los Angeles para brindarnos muchas emociones y muchas anécdotas para contar. Los Dodgers de los Angeles han tomado la ventaja en un partido clave y que va más allá de un simple resultado que por ahora se inclina dos a uno a favor de los mencionados. Desde el inicio mucha expectativa, ya que con el historial de ambos abridores algunos no esperaban un duelo de pitcheo como el que nos brindó el segundo de esta serie, y lo cierto es que ya en tan solo 5 innings el juego estaba empatado a 4. No era descabellado pensar que desde aquí se desataría una verdadera batalla de batazos entre ambos equipos, pero la realidad fue que el verdadero campo de guerra fue desde el mismo montículo. Un duelo de pitcheo entre dos bullpens que ambos managers desde mi punto de vista manejaron muy bien, terminando así de brindarnos un histórico juego de 18 innings. >Game 3 of this World Series has given us a historic moment between two rivals worthy of such an important event for baseball and its fans. A battle that began in Toronto and now comes to Los Angeles to bring us many emotions and many stories to tell. The Los Angeles Dodgers have taken the lead in a key game that goes beyond a simple result, which currently stands at two to one in their favor. >From the start, there was a lot of anticipation, as with the track record of both starting pitchers, some did not expect a pitching duel like the one we saw in the second game of this series, and the truth is that after only five innings, the game was tied at four. It was not unreasonable to think that from here on out there would be a real slugfest between the two teams, but the reality was that the real battlefield was on the mound. A pitching duel between two bullpens that, in my opinion, both managers handled very well, ending up giving us a historic 18-inning game.  18 innings que no tuvieron carencia de emociones y que mientras más avanzaba más expectativa y ansiedad generaba. Por lo mostrado en la temporada y postemporada, pienso que muchos esperábamos más la caída del bullpen de los Dodgers que la de Toronto. Inning tras inning era como si se dijera "hasta aquí llegan los Angeles", pero lo cierto es que la demostración en este juego por parte del relevo fue sensacional. En innings puntuales la defensa sacó la clase, mientras que en otras el pitcheo dió su mejor versión. Y así el duelo de pitcheo se gestionó no al principio sino desde el relevo, algo en los que muchos habrían puesto sus fichas en Toronto más que en Los Angeles. ¿Turno clave? El de Ohtani con el juego 5 a 4. ¡Hey, Man! ¡Es Ohtani! Y es aquí donde tienes que morir con la estrategia de pasarlo y que te gane el juego otro, antes que ver lo que al final pasó. Lección aprendida para los siguientes turnos en los que el japonés prácticamente en vez de salir a la caja de bateo debió pasar directamente a la primera base. Obviamente no critico la decisión del manager de Toronto, pero en una serie mundial y ante un jugador como este monstruo llamado Ohtani cualquier cosa es válida, así tengas que darle una base por bola en su primer turno al bate. >18 innings that were full of excitement and generated more and more anticipation and anxiety as the game progressed. Based on what we saw during the season and postseason, I think many of us expected the Dodgers' bullpen to falter more than Toronto's. Inning after inning, it was as if we were saying, "This is as far as the Angels will go," but the truth is that the relief pitchers' performance in this game was sensational. In certain innings, the defense showed its class, while in others, the pitching gave its best performance. And so, the pitching duel was managed not at the beginning but from the bullpen, something that many would have bet on Toronto rather than Los Angeles. >Key at-bat? Ohtani's with the score 5-4. Hey, man! It's Ohtani! And this is where you have to die with the strategy of passing him and letting someone else win the game for you, rather than seeing what ultimately happened. Lesson learned for the next at-bats, in which the Japanese player should have gone straight to first base instead of stepping up to the plate. Obviously, I'm not criticizing the Toronto manager's decision, but in a World Series and against a player like this monster named Ohtani, anything goes, even if you have to walk him on his first at-bat.  Matemáticamente hablando esto sería como ganar no uno sino dos juegos de 9 innings, y aunque en el marcador no sea así pienso que para Los Dodgers esto si pudo significar una victoria doble si añadimos el factor anímico. Habría sido muy frustrante ver una larga actualización de tu bullpen como quizás no lo has visto en toda la temporada e irte con las manos vacías, y eso es algo que en esta clase de eventos pesa de manera especial. ¿Alma de ganadores? Pues solo basta con ver a Clayton Kershaw celebrar como un niño feliz, o admirar la actitud de un Yamamoto que hace poco lanzó un juego completo y aún así estaba en el bullpen por si teníamos que seguir más allá de los 18 innings. Hoy continúa esta batalla campal, y ahora Toronto tendrá que lidiar con Ohtani no solo al enfrentarlo en la caja de bateadores sino también al verlo desde el montículo. Después de un largo juego muchas cosas pueden surgir en este cuarto de la serie que de seguro nos seguirá brindando mucha tensión y emoción desde el primer lanzamiento. ¿Quién levantará el listón por parte de Toronto o de Los Angeles Dodgers? La cita ya está pautada y todos estamos cordialmente invitados para disfrutar de este gran espectáculo digno de una serie mundial de béisbol. >Mathematically speaking, this would be like winning not one but two 9-inning games, and even though the scoreboard doesn't reflect that, I think that for the Dodgers this could mean a double victory if we add in the morale factor. It would have been very frustrating to see a long bullpen update like you may not have seen all season and leave empty-handed, and that's something that carries special weight in this kind of event. The spirit of winners? Just look at Clayton Kershaw celebrating like a happy child, or admire the attitude of Yamamoto, who recently pitched a complete game and was still in the bullpen in case we had to go beyond 18 innings. >Today, this battle continues, and now Toronto will have to deal with Ohtani not only at the plate but also on the mound. After a long game, many things can happen in this fourth game of the series, which is sure to continue to provide us with a lot of tension and excitement from the first pitch.
