Los Dodgers de Los Angeles y los Azulejos de Toronto nos han regalado una de las series mundiales más emocionantes que hayamos podido disfrutar en muchos años, con un guión como sacado de una película en la que, desde mi punto de vista, el único error es que alguno haya tenido que salir como perdedor. Y es que Los Dodgers de Los Angeles han revalidado su título, con un séptimo juego que quedará para la historia. Los Dodgers siguen siendo los reyes de las grandes ligas, y apuntan a una hazaña con olor a dinastía. Y pensar que Los Dodgers empezarían perdiendo este juego definitorio por tres carreras y con uno de sus jugadores emblemas en la lomita como lo es Shohei Ohtani. Siendo sincero, al ver esto pensé que se le venía la noche, y más al ver una tibia reacción que tan solo pudo descontar una carrera en el siguiente inning. Por momentos se pareció mucho a la receta de los juegos ganados por los Blue Jays, en los que jugadores claves como Vladimir Guerrero jr, Bo Bichette o hasta el mismo Clement podían con un batazo iniciar la fiesta en casa en varias ocasiones. Cuando ví a Yamamoto en el montículo lo primero que pensé fue en cómo reaccionaría Toronto ante su némesis, y aunque hubieron varias amenazas, el resultado fue el mismo: una victoria más para el japonés. Un MVP casi unánime para alguien que demostró esa garra y esa entrega que hoy muchos pitchers difícilmente saben transmitir, dándole confianza a su equipo y temor a sus rivales. Aún así, en este séptimo juego hubieron muchos MVP, destacando el bateo oportuno de Muncy y Smith, así como el relevo de Glasgow y Snell que fueron bien manejados. Incluso a nivel defensivo hubo un cambio trascendental cuando Pages fue al jardín central en el mismo inning en donde terminaría haciendo una jugada de leyenda que muchos fanáticos de ambos bandos jamás olvidarán. ¿Jugada clave? Pero no fue así, y el héroe fue un jugador que marcó la diferencia también a la defensiva desde que Dave Roberts lo puso a jugar. Mérito para un manager que hizo movimientos específicos a la ofensiva y defensiva que lo llevaron a concretar una gran victoria y otro campeonato. No es fácil llevar las riendas de un equipo tan poderoso como Los Dodgers y sabemos que la presión a este nivel es tan grande que parece que todo lo que no sea una victoria es un rotundo fracaso. Y aquí quiero hacer un paréntesis ante la opinión de un comentarista deportivo muy conocido que afirmó que para él, el equipo que perdiera el séptimo juego habría fracasado. Lo siento, pero lo que vimos en dicho juego es digno de todo encomio, porque Los Azulejos de Toronto lo dejaron absolutamente todo, y pueden irse con la frente en alto. Obviamente alguien tenía que perder, pero en el caso de los Blue Jays pienso que esto es el principio de un gran proyecto que los puede poner muy pronto del lado en el que hoy están Los Angeles Dodgers. Y si aún así se cree que lo de este equipo es un fracaso, estoy seguro de que a muchos equipos les gustaría triunfar de la manera en la que hoy entonces "fracasó" Toronto. Los Dodgers de Los Angeles han coronado un gran año, y con semejante equipo desde ya podemos soñar en un insólito triple campeonato en el béisbol de las grandes ligas. ¿Podrá pasar algo así?
