Happy Venus day to all! Friday is the day that I get to spend the morning taking care of myself and thinking about my art projects. And part of my self care journey includes putting on make up and making myself feel beautiful. I do believe Venus - the goddess of love and beauty - would approve of how I make a ritual out of getting ready on my slow morning. And today I would like to take you along too!
I don't spend a lot of time on my make up routine. I only wear a natural foundation, eye liner, and sometimes mascara. I do, however, always start off with a facial massage, and sometimes even a red light session. Herbal oils and the healing power of red light are just as important to my "look" as the makeup I rub on over my face. Most days I get ready in my bathroom with the heater on (in winter). On Fridays and the weekends though, I set up my vanity outside and let the sun warm my face and do my beauty ritual in natural light.
Then there is tea. Of course! I am expecting my period soon so I am drinking ginger, rose buds, and hawthorn berries which all promote menstruation and are blood tonics. This is also a really delicious tea blend and great for people with heart issues, whether that be the physical organ or heart break. I personally am trying to promote self love and the heart-healing powers of hawthorn and the loving power of rose are helping so much!
Then I went on a walk. I heard cow bells ringing and wanted to see what the visiting herd is up to. Also I really got to take in the magical feeling of winter turning into spring. Greens grass is popping up between the yellow stalks and buds are on the trees.
And lastly, I want to share a new addition to my "art collection" and that is the oak branch tattoo that I got last week. Today my skin has finally healed enough to take pictures of and I love how this new tattoo complements my previous one on the other arm. One tree from the north (oak) and one from the south (pepper tree) both protective, inspiring, and full of HerbLore.
