Final Image
Hi Steemers, today I want to share with you this illustration of some green sea turtles. This is the final illustration, with the final composition and color. Hope you like it.
—————-
drawings and studies
The first step was collecting references of turtles searching images on Google. There are tons of images , so I did a specific search of “Green Sea Turtle”, because there are other kinds of sea turtles . After that, I started to draw with red pencil some of the turtles , to study their anatomy , shape , and parts, and the details of their skin too.
I sketch different views to do some variations, and trying to capture the movement of the turtles. I switch to a blue pencil just because to not get boring with the same color.
You can draw as much turtles as you want. With more turtles drawn , more options later for the design process to choose the good ones that fit the composition.

Composition thumbnails
After having drawn some pages of turtles, I filled one page to do small thumbnails to design a good layout composition for the final illustration. I knew that the turtles are round and kind of the shape of waves,, so I played with that shape to do the final design.

Final Design Process
Once I had the final design, I took a photo and enlarged the thumbnail, later I retraced it in other page , and started to fill that waves shapes with the turtles I choose from the previous pages I have drawn before. I change a bit the shape to fit the composition of the waves, and get that dynamic form.
This is the sketch more detailed with blue and black pencil for the details. I like this part a lot, the hard part of the process its done and now its time to play with the shape of the faces and draw those little details and expressions that show the character of the animal.
This is the final ink sketch. I retraced in other page.
I scanned it and open the sketch with Procreate for the Ipad. I adjusted the image to fit exacly the shape of the rectangle.
Coloring process
Finally, I started the coloring process of the image, I added color to different layers and then did specific and overall color variations to get the best color to the image.
