Greetings to everyone in the Family & Friends community! I hope you're all having a great weekend with your loved ones. This time, I'm joining you here to share with you what my partner's birthday celebration was like. It's a very important day for the family, as it's an opportunity to celebrate a loved one who's celebrating their birthday. So, all the family members plan something special for that day.
For these types of events, I feel very supported by my mother-in-law, since she and I are (almost always) the ones who spearhead the organization of all the celebrations that happen throughout the year: birthdays, Christmas, New Year's, Mother's/Father's Day, etc. It's a very nice connection; I like sharing that "language" with her, because I believe only we fully understand the context of the situation and make decisions based on our expectations. Searching here and there for the best way to celebrate, I've been able to find the best way to celebrate. What we'll eat, where it'll be celebrated, who'll be there, letting everyone know, finding all the resources, etc. This is how we planned to make my partner's birthday.
¡Saludos a todos en la comunidad de Family & Friends! Espero que se encuentren pasando un buen fin de semana junto a los suyos. En esta oportunidad me uno por aquí para compartir con ustedes lo que fue la celebración del cumpleaños de mi pareja. Un día muy importante para la familia, pues es una ocasión para agasajar al ser querido que se encuentra cumpliendo años. Así que para ello planificamos todos los miembros de la familia para hacer algo especial para ese día.Para este tipo de eventos me siento muy apoyada con mi suegra pues ella y yo somos (casi siempre) las que encabezamos la organización de todas las celebraciones que se dan en el año: cumpleaños, navidades, año nuevo, día de madre/padre, etc. Es una complicidad bien bonita, me gusta compartir ese "lenguaje" con ella pues creo que solo nosotras entendemos muy bien el contexto de la situación y resolvemos según lo estimado. Buscando por aquí y por allá cómo sería la mejor forma para realizar la celebración; qué se comerá, dónde se celebrará, quiénes irán, avisar a los demás, buscar todos los recursos, etc. Así es cómo buscamos hacer del cumpleaños de mi pareja.
We celebrated at my in-laws' house. I was in charge of cooking the food because it was a recipe they weren't familiar with, and I wanted to make it for everyone. We were waiting for the long-awaited cake because we had asked a patient pastry chef to make it for the occasion. Since my partner is also a photographer, my mother-in-law chose that theme, and the baker facilitated the design. We chose photographs of his loved ones. Including, of course, one of his favorite pets: Dio the cat. We had a great time, eating delicious food, talking about everything, and finally, doing it the way he wanted: something simple but calming. Later, his dad and his boyfriend arrived for the celebration. When night fell, we all said our goodbyes and continued celebrating at our house.
It was a great day. From all this birthday stuff, I've learned not to push things, not to demand too much of myself (or others), to remember that the important thing is to share with those you love, to let everything flow, and not allow rushing or expectations to spoil a day when one should pause for a moment to assimilate that a new year has arrived, that gifts don't always come, and one should be grateful. Lo celebramos en casa de mi suegros. A mi me tocó cocinar la comida pues era una receta que no conocían y a fin de cuentas yo deseaba prepararla para todos. Estábamos a la espera de la tan esperada torta pues le habiamos pedido a una paciente que es repostera que hiciera la torta para la ocasión. Cómo mi pareja también es fotógrafo, mi suegra buscó esa temática y el diseño lo facilito la repostera. Eligiendo fotografías que fueran de sus seres queridos. Incluyendo por supuesto una de sus mascotas preferidas: el gato Dio. La pasamos muy bien, comiendo muy rico, hablando de todo un poco y finalmente cómo el quería: algo sencillo pero tranquilo. Más tarde llegó su papá y su unio a la celebración. Llegada la noche todos nos despedimos y continuamos celebrando en nuestra casa.Fue un gran día. De todo esto de los cumpleaños yo he aprendido a no presionar las cosas, a no exigirme a mi (ni a los otros demasiado), a recordar que lo importante es compartir con quienes quieres, dejar que todo fluya y no permitir que los apuros o las expectativas dañen un día en dónde uno debe detenerse un momento para asimilar que ha llegado un nuevo año, que no siempre ese regalo llega y uno debe ser agradecido.
