Greetings to everyone in the Worldmappin community! Today I'm joining you here to share a new tourist review. Still located in Valencia, Carabobo State, Venezuela, I'm presenting the group exhibition "Art and Faith - Chief Coromoto and his Beautiful Lady," which is on display in one of the rooms of the Nelson Mandela Cultural Center. Although I've had the good fortune to share many places in the historic center with you, this is one of the buildings I've never been able to visit before. For various reasons, including time, the distance from the mansion, and convenience. So, on this trip to Valencia, I decided I couldn't miss the building and wanted to visit its facilities with my beloved family. Because everything is always better when done in good company. The Nelson Mandela Cultural Center is located in the historic center of Valencia, between Boyaca Street and Independencia Street. It's located quite close to Plaza Bolívar, just one block further in the direction of the Guerra Mendez Clinic. Since I'd never been there before, I was excited to discover what was inside, although I'd already researched it and found that they had the Coromotana exhibition available. So, while the building has only been open for a few years and has served as an artistic, cultural, and multi-event venue, this post won't be a historical overview like my usual ones. I'll focus primarily on the reasons for the temporary art exhibitions I found there. That's why I've decided to divide the place into two posts, starting with this one, which is one of its current exhibitions.
¡Saludos a todos en la comunidad de Worldmappin! El día de hoy me uno por aquí para compartir con ustedes una nueva reseña turística. Ubicados todavía en Valencia, estado Carabobo, Venezuela. En esta ocasión, lees presento la exposición colectiva "Arte y Fe - El Cacique Coromoto y su Bella Señora", la cual se encuentra exhibida en una se las salas del Centro Cultural Nelson Mandela. Aunque he tenido la dicha de compartir con ustedes muchísimos lugares del casco histórico, este es uno de los edificios que nunca antes había podido visitar. Razones varias están el tiempo, lo lejos que estaba de la casona y la practicidad. Así que en este viaje a Valencia decidí que no podía dejar pasar de lado el edificio y visitar sus instalaciones junto a mi querida familia. Porque todo siempre es mejor cuando se hace con buena compañía. Así que acompáñame.El Centro Cultural Nelson Mandela se encuentra ubicado en el casco histórico de Valencia, entre la calle Boyaca y la calle Independencia. Se encuentra bastante cerca de la Plaza Bolívar, a tan solo una cuadra más en dirección hacia la Clínica Guerra Mendez. Cómo nunca había ido, estaba emocionado por encontrar que había allí dentro, aunque ya había investigado al respecto y encontrado que tenían disponible la exposición coromotana. Así que si bien el edificio tiene tan solo algunos años de apertura y tiempo en el cual, ha funciona cómo nicho artístico, cultural y de eventos múltiples, esta publicación no será una reseña histórica cómo las que acostumbro hacer. Me enfocaré principalmente en los motivos de exhibiciones artísticas temporales que encontré. Por eso he decidido dividir en dos publicaciones el lugar, comenzando con esta que es una de sus exposiciones del momento.
I've mentioned on several occasions that Venezuelans are faithful devotees (mostly Catholics), so we'll see tributes to certain religious figures on several occasions. Of course, this also depends on the dates on which Catholic celebrations have been established (apparitions, canonizations, beatifications, and others), so we won't always see it. For example, this exhibition was available in September because that month marks the celebration of the Virgin of Coromoto, specifically on September 8th. This is the day (according to legend) when the Virgin appeared to Chief Coromoto. She is also the patron saint of Venezuela, making her important and relevant in society even more significant.
Here in the room where the exhibition was located, we found some paintings using various techniques and supports. I tried to find out who the artists behind the pieces were, but I couldn't find any answers because the staff was teaching drawing and painting classes in another room. Yes, they also teach classes there, which I think is very good. I assume that some of the works on display belonged to the children in that class, given their style and because it would only make sense for them to have the opportunity to express their talent through this exhibition. The truth is that it's good to know that spaces are preserved so that artists, devotees, and spectators can come and contemplate this work. Without further ado, thank you so much for stopping by.
He mencionado en varias ocasiones que el venezolano es fiel devoto (en su mayoría, católicos), por lo que veremos en varias ocasiones que se les rinden homenaje a algunas figuras religiosas. Por supuesto esto también depende de las fechas en las que se han establecido las celebraciones católicas (apariciones, canonizaciones, beatificaciones y otros), por lo que no siempre la veremos. Por ejemplo, esta exposición estaba disponible en septiembre ya que en ese mes se celebra a la Virgen de Coromoto, especialmente el 8 de septiembre, siendo ese día en el que (según la leyenda) la Virgen se le apareció al Cacique Coromoto. Además de que ella es la Patrona de Venezuela, por lo cual su importancia y relevancia es mayor en la sociedad.Acá en la sala dónde se encontraba la exposición, encontramos algunos trabajos pictóricos con técnicas y soportes varios. Intenté descubrir quienes eran los artistas detrás de la piezas, pero no supe encontrar respuestas pues el personal se encontraba atendiendo la clases de dibujo y pintura en otra de las salas. Sí, allí también dan clases, lo cual me pace muy bien. Yo supongo que algunas de los trabajos allí exhibidos pertenecían a los niños de dicha clase, por el estilo que tenían y porque sería lo más lógico que fueran ellos quiénes tuvieran la oportunidad de expresar su talento a través de esta exposición. Lo cierto del caso es que es bueno saber que se conservan espacios para que tanto artistas, cómo devotos y espectadores, puedan acudir a contemplar este trabajo.
