While I was in Valencia, I decided to see Dentist Mariale Valerio, who also specializes in Orthodontics and Orthopedics. My last dental appointment was a few months ago, as my job as a Dental Assistant allowed me to have that benefit, and for that last checkup, they told me about my need for braces. Honestly, I wasn't very happy to hear that news because wearing braces is a bit of a shock for me. However, I prefer that to not having teeth because I didn't take care of them in time. And here's the thing: I discovered I could do it the traditional way, or not. Here's the full story.
Just after receiving the news that I needed to get braces, I found an advertising video on Instagram featuring the Dentist. Mariale introducing Invisalign, a modern way of wearing braces: no clasps, no metal, no elastic bands, transparent, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing. Invisalign braces look very similar to braces or retainers. I really liked that because you wear them all day, remove them when eating, sleeping, and brushing (cleaning). They don't hurt your cheeks and perform the same function as traditional braces. Coincidentally, I had to go to Valencia to see my mom, so while I was there, I took advantage of the opportunity to visit the dentist.

En esta ocasión se trata de mi visita al dentista pues estando en Valencia decidí acudir a consulta con la Odontóloga, Mariale Valerio, quién también es especialista en Ortodoncia y Ortopedia. Mi última consulta odontológica la tuve hace pocos meses, pues mi trabajo cómo Asistente Dental me permitía tener ese beneficio y para ese último control me hablaron sobre la necesidad que tengo de usar ortodoncia. Y la verdad, no estaba muy feliz de oír esa noticia pues llevar aparatos resulta un poco chocante para mí, sin embargo, prefiero eso a no tener dientes por no cuidarlos con tiempo. Y he aquí la cuestión, descubrí que podía hacerlo de la forma tradicional o no. Aqui les cuento todo.Justo después de recibir la noticia que debo usar aparatos, encontré en Instagram un video publicitario dónde aparecía la Od. Mariale dando a conocer los Invisalign, una forma moderna de usar ortodoncia: sin ganchos, sin metal, sin ligas, transparentes, cómodos y estéticos. Los Invisalign son muy parecidos en aspecto a unas férulas o los retenedores. Eso me gustó bastante porque los usas todo el día, los retiras cuando vayas a comer, dormir y al cepillarte (limpiarlos), no lastiman las mejillas y cumplen la misma función que la ortodoncia tradicional. Casualmente yo debía ir a Valencia a ver a mi mamá, así que cuando estuve allí aproveché el momento para ir a dónde la Odontóloga.

The doctor is very warm and friendly, and I like that she tries to inform her patients about the entire process. At the time of my visit, the cost of the consultation (plus prophylaxis) was $20. A fairly affordable price for anyone, considering that she not only gives you a diagnosis but also performs three types of dental cleanings and a digital image of your entire mouth (using a scanner). She gave me a general estimate for some of the composite treatments I needed, as well as the estimate for Invisalign orthodontics. I think it's very good.
Of course, I must say that the cost of Invisalign orthodontics is higher than traditional orthodontics. Personally, if I had the option to do it that way, I would (for all its benefits), but I don't have the resources. However, I'm sharing this information with you because the doctor is truly excellent, and if I had to get orthodontics, I would do it with her because of her experience, treatment, and results. My mouth was like new after the prophylaxis. I think we spent about an hour and a half doing everything I told you, but it was definitely worth it. I hope to get braces in the future, whether traditional or not, because ultimately, the important thing is for my teeth to regain a good occlusion. Ella se cuenta ubicada en el C.C. Concepto la Viña, por la Viña en Valencia. Allí encontrarán su consultorio. La doctora es muy cálida, amable y me gusta que trata de informar a sus pacientes sobre todo el proceso que se va a llevar a cabo. En el momento que acudí a su visita el costo de la consulta (más la profilaxis), fueron de 20$. Un precio bastante asequible para cualquiera tomando en consideración que ella no solo te da un diagnóstico, sino que realiza tres tipos de limpiezas dentales y una toma digital de toda la boca (con un scaner). A mí me dió un presupuesto general sobre algunos tratamientos con resina que necesitaba, así como el presupuesto para la ortodoncia con Invisalign. Considero que está muy bien.Por supuesto debo decir que el costo de la ortodoncia con Invisalign es mayor a la tradicional. Personalmente si tuviera la forma de hacerlo de esa forma lo haría (por todas sus bondades), pero no cuento con esos recursos. Sin embargo, les dejo la información pues la doctora realmente es excelente y si tuviera que hacerme la ortodoncia lo haría con ella por su experiencia, trato y resultados. Mi boca después de la profilaxis quedó como nueva. Creo que estuvimos alrededor de una hora y media haciendo todo lo que les comenté, pero definitivamente valió la pena. Espero en un futuro ponerme los brackets, sean o no tradicionales pues finalmente lo importante es que mis dientes recuperen una buena oclusión.
