Greetings to everyone in the Worldmappin community. I hope you're all well and enjoying this new week. Today, I'm joining the community to share with you my visit to the José Rafael Pocaterra Birthplace Museum, a building I talked about in another post a few months ago, where I dedicated myself to describing its history, humanistic legacy, and other notes on its architecture and artwork. If you'd like to read it, I'll be leaving the link at the end of this paragraph. This time, I'll just show you the temporary exhibition that was available at the time I visited the house (about a week ago). So, with that said, let's get started.
Saludos a todos en la comunidad de Worldmappin. Espero que se encuentren bien, disfrutando de esta nueva semana. El día de hoy me uno a la comunidad para compartir con ustedes lo que fue mi visita al Museo Casa Natal "José Rafael Pocaterra", edificio del cual hablé en otra publicación hace algunos meses atrás y dónde me dedique a describir su historia, legado humanístico y otros apuntes sobre su arquitectura y obras de arte. Si desean leerlo, estaré dejando el enlace al final de este párrafo. Y es que en esta ocasión, solo me dedicaré a enseñarles la exposición temporal que se encontraba disponible para el momento en el que visité la casa (hace una semana aproximadamente). Así que dicho esto comencemos con ello.
Located in the historic center of Valencia, between Calle Colombia and Avenida Anzoátegui, is what was once the home of the writer José Rafael Pocaterra. There is the headquarters of Fundatur (The Foundation for the Promotion and Development of Tourist and Recreational Works and Activities), and we will also find the permanent exhibition that houses some of the books, objects, and furniture that belonged to Pocaterra. On the day of my visit, the temporary exhibition "Multinational Russia: Diversity Woven in Colored Threads" was on display. And as the legend goes, this photographic exhibition was created to showcase the different garments worn by some of the peoples belonging to Russia. Therefore, during this tour, we were able to observe some garments, ranging from the most elaborate to the simplest, as well as their usefulness, qualities, artistic touch, and other advantages.
Ubicado en el casco histórico de Valencia, entre la Calle Colombia y la Avenida Anzoátegui, se encuentra lo que fue la casa del escritor, José Rafael Pocaterra. Allí se encuentra la sede de Fundatur (La Fundación para el Fomento y Desarrollo de Obras y Actividades Turísticas y Recreacionales) y también encontraremos la exhibición permanente dónde se hallan algunos de los libros, objetos y muebles que pertenecieron a Pocaterra. Para el día de mi visita estaba presente la exhibición temporal de "Rusia Multinacional: Diversidad Tejida en Hilos de Colores". Y cómo reza la leyenda, esta muestra fotográfica se hizo con el motivo de enseñar las diferentes prendas de vestir usadas por algunos de los pueblos que pertenecen a Rusia. Por lo cual, durante este recorrido pudimos observar algunas vestimentas que van desde las más elaboradas a las más sencillas, así cómo su utilidad, cualidades, sello artístico y otras bondades.
I had read about this exhibition on the social media platforms of the Academy of History and Fundatur, so I knew I had to attend. I think the ideal situation would have been to attend the opening day, as I understand that they gave a talk that same day about Russian people, their history, the connection they have with Venezuela (which is one of the main reasons for exhibiting such photographs in Venezuela), and so on. I think listening to that talk would have given a little more meaning to the visit and the photographs there, as hearing that information firsthand would have given a certain connection to what they were trying to show on this occasion. Although, well, it's all up to each individual.
Había leído sobre esta exposición por las redes sociales de la Academia de Historia y Fundatur, así que sabía que debía asistir. Creo que lo ideal habría sido poder asistir el día de la inauguración pues tengo entendido que ese mismo día brindaron una charla para hablar sobre los pueblos rusos, su historia, la unión que existe con Venezuela (siendo ese uno de los motivos principales de exhibir tales fotografías en Venezuela) y demás. Creo que haber escuchado esa charla le habría dado un poco más de sentido a la visita y a las fotografías que estaban allí, pues escuchar de primera mano esa información habría dado cierta cercanía con lo que intentaron mostrar en esta oportunidad. Aunque bueno, todo queda a criterio de cada quien.
I really didn't expect to find such an exhibition, but it was a bit interesting that I happened to be wearing a blouse that day with woven details and a very pretty style that reminded me of the clothes some of the people in the photographs wore. My stepfather also made this observation, as he wanted to capture some photographs that showed certain unique characteristics among the garments. The tour was quick, lively, and picturesque. Our favorite space was the one with a real piece of clothing hanging on the wall. I think it would have been a good idea if they had displayed more real pieces. In my opinion and nothing more. The explosion will probably be removed by the end of this month. Without further ado, thank you so much for stopping by.
Realmente no esperaba encontrarme con tal exposición, pero resultó un poco interesante el hecho de que casualmente ese día había utilizado una blusa con detalles tejidos y con un estilo muy bonito que me recordaba a las vestimentas que tenían algunas personas de las fotografías. Esta observación me la hizo también mi padrastro quién deseaba capturar algunas fotografías dónde se notaban ciertas singularidades entre las prendas. El recorrido fue rápido, animoso y pintoresco. Una muestra fotográfica del arte textil de Rusia. Nuestro espacio favorito fue el de un prenda de vestir real que se hallaba colgada en la pared. Creo que de haber colocado más prendas reales, fuera Sido un acierto. En mi opinión y nada más. Probablemente para fines de este mes, retiren la explosión.
