Rainy day shopping trip to Hornsby mall : August 2 2025

What to do on Day 5 of a Sydney East Coast low - raining all day again? Potter around on a bunch of internet marketing rabbit holes. Had hoped to get a review written but got distracted on a bunch of things. Example from the day before - change of PHP version killed my main site. Took a while to fix

The answer is catch a train and do the steps in a shopping mall

Walked the whole length of the mall back and forth across two of the three levels. Was even seen shopping in TKMaxx - escaped spending anything there. Did do Kmart - not shopping there again. Had to use self checkout- one item would not scan, rewards card did not scan, did not get markdown price

Did the grocery shopping - enough for less than two bags. Shops were busy - everyone had the same idea.

Just missed the huge shower when I got back to the station - first photo above is from the wait there

Got the steps done

Dinner: Thai basil pepper noodle dish

Pour boiling water over the vermicelli rice noodles and let stand for 5 minutes - drain

Stir fry prepared prawns - set aside. Then stir fry chopped onion, garlic, ginger, sliced beans, mushrooms. Add in the sauce - rice wine, soy sauce, oyster sauce .

Stir through and add in chopped pak choy and prawns and some torn basil leaves. When the leaves have wilted toss in vermicelli - serve with a few more shredded basil leaves

Worked well. Recipe wanted Szechuan peppercorns - only had black. Needed more.
