Somehow during my incredibly busy photography season last summer I was able to sneak away for a couple of days up to the mountains with my family to enjoy some nature. The main event was the Perseid Meteor shower and we found these old log cabins from a mining settlement that has long since been abandoned.

We spent the days exploring around in my parents SXS, fishing, and just chilling at camp. On one of the days I wanted to go for a long hike but nobody else wanted to go with me so I went alone and spent the afternoon hiking alone. It was good to disconnect and just enjoy the beauty of nature.
As I was hiking in an open meadow I noticed something on a hill in the middle of the meadow, so I ventured over to see what it was. It turned out to be the final resting place of someone who spent a lot of time in this area with his family. That's the kind of view I'd like to have as my final resting place.
We were graced with amazing sunsets every night while we fished at the lake and I was able to teach 2 of my nephews a bit about photography, as they've both picked up cameras recently.
