This post is the honest expectations I have for my dopamine detox journey.

Expectations

As I write this, I have no idea what to expect from the first day of my detox journey. Like, my imagination can't even begin to understand what might actually happen.

When this article is released I'm just about 12-14 hours in (depending on the exact time I start) and I will already have been having a hard time not going to my laptop. The daily #cryptoshots tournament has been part of my routine for a long, loooong time now. I mean, who doesn't like FREE $HIVE, right?

Other than that, I have a feeling that I'm doing okay. For now at least. The next 24 hours will be a struggle. I know that for a fact.

Hardest part

To be honest, I'm not quite sure what might've been the hardest part. I know there will be a few things I've been missing already, and it will only grow stronger during the next day.

  • My guessing game
  • CryptoShots daily tournament
  • Checking InLeo (and Hive Keychain)
  • The urge for food
  • Coffee
  • My bad habits (energy drinks in particular - and beer!)

Fight for it!

I will do all I can to control these urges. During the coming day, I will be going for a walk with two of my friends. We sometimes go for a drink afterwards, but this time I will have to resist the temptation 🤞🏼

I'm not even sure that the walk will do anything good for me. My need for food is huge. Like, I eat for 3 people or so, am 194 cm tall and have recently reached a new ATH weight of 87 kg 😂 Yes, I'm kinda skinny, and I often lose weight. I'm trying to gain weight actually. This journey could also spark a new found interest in workouts to help my gain weight.

Now, back on topic!

My brain will, without a doubt, be running in circles to find a reason for a cup of coffee, something to eat or something completely different.

The solution

... to this issue might be to grab a tiny box of raisins and eat that. A nurse has told me that is a good way to keep hands and brain busy for a few minutes and should take the edge off and make other cravings more manageable. Or, that's what I hope!

Join me in my journey on my expectations for day 2. Will be out in about 24 hours after this is posted.

Engagement part

Would you ever take on a challenge like this? What would your expectations would be? Tap out in the first hour(s), cut out just one or two things to make it easier - or go nuts and do it all (like me)?
