My story that I want to share with all of you today was my past dragon boat experience in the company I was working 5 years ago. I can't clearly remember when this happened but the feelings of excitement and love for the team preside.

I forgot to say that my position in this company was Operation Supervisor. I was a newbie when the CEO invited us to have this kind of activity. I think I was with them 1 week during this time. To all who are not familiar a Dragon Boat Race is a paddled water activity and it originates from China. In the Philippines, it is a national sport where many are into it. I know some participants competing in other countries. Some of them were my co-workers. One of those I admired most is a deaf mute young lady who never get tired of telling the world that she has something to offer despite her condition. The company really wanted to try this since they are sponsoring the federation of this sport and at the same time they are helping participants who are less privileged.

Fast forward, when our boss invited me to join, he said it's not mandatory for me to say yes but in that activity there's special learning and the essence behind that made me say yes was beyond remarkable. Yes, I told him I wanted to try and to conquer my fear in riding the boat while paddling. It's my first time and I was with my co-workers from a different position. I told our boss I wanted to bring my partner in life since he was the one driving our motorcycle and to be honest it's far from home that's why I wanted him to drive me to our exact location. The place is called Maribago beach in Lapu-Lapu. They chose this place for it is nice and not crowded. When I and my partner arrived there, I was amazed by the beauty of the sea. My boss and co-workers were already there waiting for us to arrive. So right there, the coaches explained to us what to do in that kind of sport. We were all excited and at the same time a bit scared. So many what ifs because of course we were not good swimmers like if anything happen. When the orientation was done, we do some warm-up to prevent body pain after doing the activity. When the activity started, we finally did great for we were able to perform what was needed. We paddled smoothly and went far from seashore and lastly we all said, We did it guys.

What is the essence of that kind of sport? Well for me, in this kind of activity it really shows that teamwork is the best to succeed. Teamwork is needed in all companies to become victorious. I can say I am one of those privileged individuals who try to witness that if you don't paddle together surely you won't reach your destination. And by that, I am forever grateful for my past firm for the chances and great opportunity. Forever you are part of my history.
