Red Lipstick

Hi there, friends of the SketchBook community, how are you today? I hope you are doing great! Lately, I haven't wanted to do some drawing post, I feel like it's overwhelming, in a way. I think I finally experienced what it's like to reach burnout, and I don't recommend it. I feel like a wilted flower. Every day I encourage myself to try to write a post showing some drawing, but I feel it comes out soulless. I think it's a result of my own personal problems, but I think I have it under control. I will be fine. One of my solutions to feeling better was to make drawings of something I liked, and not just practice drawings. This is a drawing I tried to do to get out of the routine a little, I guess. I'll be sharing the process with you; although it's not very long, here we go. >Holiii, amigos de la comunidad de SketchBook, ¿cómo se encuentran el día de hoy?, ¡Espero que muy bien! >Últimamente, no he querido hacer algún post de dibujo, siento que es abrumador, de cierta forma. Creo que finalmente experimenté lo que es llegar al “burnout”, y no lo recomiendo. Me siento como una flor marchita. Cada día me animo a intentar escribir un post mostrando algún dibujo, pero siento que sale sin alma. Creo que es resultado de mis propios problemas personales, pero pienso que ya lo tengo bajo control. Estaré bien. >Una de mis soluciones para sentirme mejor, fue hacer dibujos de algo que me gustara, y no solamente dibujos de práctica. Este es un dibujo que intenté hacer para salir un poco de la rutina, supongo yo. Les estaré compartiendo el proceso, aunque no es muy largo, vamos allá.  ### Process | Proceso  | -|-|  I started by making a sketch of the face, using oval and round shapes for the eyes and nose. And some cylinders for the fingers above the mouth. After the base shapes, I started sketching the eyelids, eyebrows, and nostrils. I also gave some small curved strokes above the lips to give that idea of volume. >Comencé por hacer un boceto del rostro, utilizando formas ovaladas y redondas para los ojos y la nariz. Y unos cilindros para los dedos que están encima de la boca. >Luego de las formas base, comencé a bosquejar los párpados, cejas y fosas nasales. También di algunos pequeños trazos curvados encima de los labios para dar esa idea de volumen. | -|-| After making the pencil sketch, I continued by marking over it with pencil. I started with the edge of the eyelids and the circumference of the iris. Then I drew eyelashes and traced the pupil. I drew some shadows on the upper part of the iris, which is projected by the upper eyelid. >Después de hacer el boceto a lápiz, continué por marcar por encima con lapicero. Comencé por el borde de los párpados y la circunferencia del iris. >Luego dibujé pestañas y tracé la pupila. Dibujé algunas sombras en la parte superior del iris, la cual está proyectada por el párpado superior.  I gave a little more depth to the eyelids. Next was to highlight the contour of the nose and shade the base and nostrils. >Di un poco más de profundidad en los parpados. Lo siguiente fue remarcar el contorno de la nariz y dar sombra en la base y las fosas nasales. | -|-| Next, I outlined the contour of the lips and teeth. I also outlined the crease that is made between the upper lip and the nose, as the finger is causing some pressure on top of the lips. The next thing was to give shadows with some repetitive strokes in the same direction. I gave shadows on the upper and lower lip, as well as on the teeth inside the mouth and under the lower lip. What I like most about drawing with pencil is that I don't feel the need for my stroke to be perfect. I like to draw and have it look full of lines that, disorderly, manage to be ordered to form something meaningful. >A continuación remarqué el contorno de los labios y los dientes, también delineé el pliegue que se hace entre el labio superior y la nariz, al estar el dedo causando cierta presión encima de los labios. >Lo siguiente fue dar sombras con algunos trazos repetitivos en la misma dirección. Di sombras en el labio superior e inferior, así como también en los dientes dentro de la boca y debajo del labio inferior. >Lo que más me gusta de dibujar con lapicero es que no siento la necesidad de que mi trazo sea perfecto, me gusta dibujar y que luzca lleno de líneas que, desordenadamente, logran ordenarse para formar algo con sentido.  Next was to outline the fingers and nails, adding a few strokes above the fingers to give small details. >Lo siguiente fue delinear los dedos y las uñas, añadiendo algunos trazos encima de los dedos para dar pequeños detalles.  With quick, upward-curving strokes, I began to do the brows from the height of the tear trough to the corner of the eye, each one. I also added a light shadow in the crease of the upper eyelid. >Con trazos rápidos y curvados hacia arriba, comencé a hacer las cejas desde la altura del lagrimal hasta la esquina del ojo, cada una. También añadí una sombra ligera en el pliegue del parpado superior.  With a red pen, I started to color the lips with circular strokes. So far the drawing was fine, but I thought of adding more color for some reason, and I didn't like it so much anymore. >Con un lapicero rojo comencé a colorear los labios con trazos circulares. >Hasta aquí estaba bien el dibujo, pero se me ocurrió añadirle más color por alguna razón y ya no me gustó tanto.  I added red to the nails, eyelids, eyebrows, nose shadow, cheeks (for blush), and even on the iris. What I did like about the iris is that it looks brown; it's kind of an interesting touch, but from there on out I feel like it was too much. However, I think this is one of those drawings that serve to de-stress, although I'm not sure if I succeeded since I didn't like the result. Maybe I was planning to do more drawings where there is a single color that stands out in a specific area; I think that's very captivating. At the moment, I think it is very exciting to use the pencil. In the meantime, I will continue studying drawing; I still have a lot to learn.  #### Hope you liked my post! Lo que sí me gustó del iris es que luce marrón, es como un toque interesante, pero de ahí en fuera siento que fue demasiado. >Sin embargo, creo que esto es uno de esos dibujos que sirven para desestresarse, aunque no estoy segura de si lo logré, ya que no me gustó el resultado. >Igual tenía pensado hacer más dibujos donde hubiese un solo color que resalte en una zona específica, se me hace muy interesante eso.
