Hey beautiful people of the @worldmappin fam! I hope everyone's doing great! I am here again to share another adventure, but this time it's not about the islands because I am taking you internationally!
I can still remember the overwhelming joy I felt when I first set foot in Europe. This truly felt like I am living my dream. I spent 3 wonderful months in Germany with my boyfriend, but I'll save that story for my next blog! 😉
For now, let me take you to our lovely trip in Bregenz, Austria. Our place in Germany is actually quite close, it's just a 30 minute drive away. We decided to go there one Saturday since there was a weekend market and his parents also wanted to buy few things.
As soon as we arrived, I was in awe. The streets were charming and peaceful, the weather was just right - not too hot and not too cold. By the way this was summer but the cool breeze gently brushed against my skin. Everything around me felt calm, beautiful and amazing.
As we walked along the streets, I saw tall and beautiful buildings, some were shops and others are apartments. There were so many different stores, clothing boutiques, restaurants, cafe's, souvenir shops, and even an Asian store which caught my attention. In the middle of the street, we found the weekend market filled with a variety of local foods. The first thing we bought was fruits. They were so fresh and vibrant in color. But what really caught our attention was the salami. My boyfriend's family absolutely loves it. The shop were we bought it even offered free tasting, so of course, we all tried it!😄 It was delicious! So they ended up buying one or two kinds to take home.
Everything I saw here was so pleasing to my eyes. As we walked along the streets, checking out what else we could possibly buy, my boyfriend's parent started looking for a restaurant where we could have an iced coffee and relax after shopping. That's when we saw an Italian restaurant called Isola Bella. We chose to sit outside to enjoy the refreshing ambience. We all ordered iced coffee and one spaghetti ice cream. I absolutely loved their iced coffee! The vanilla ice cream on top blended perfectly with it. It was so good!
Right after this, my boyfriend and I decided to stay for a few more hours to enjoy the place. His parents went back home, so we walked around and headed to the other side where you can see the lake.
On the way, we saw a gelato shop — and without hesitation, we bought some! Since I love mint ice cream, that’s what I ordered. It was so perfect! I really loved it. By the way this Gelato shop is also part of Isola Bella.
We continued walking until we reached the lakeside and enjoyed the beautiful afternoon view. There were lots of people around — some walking, others having picnics by the water. After a few hours, we started feeling hungry, so we looked for a restaurant to eat.
I enjoyed every bit of the walk because of the lively streets, small shops selling clothes, accessories, drinks, and so much more. Eventually, we decided to dine at a restaurant called Wirtshaus am See, which translates to “Restaurant by the Lake.” It’s a popular lakeside spot in Bregenz, right beside Lake Constance (Bodensee).
I loved the cozy vibe here — it was the perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal, especially with your loved one, while taking in the beautiful lake scenery.
This was definitely a moment to remember, a place to return to forward to new adventures. Austria, you are everything I imagined and more, truly a dream come true.
