Nuestro país está pasando en estos momentos por los embates de un invierno severo. En el Estado Apure donde estoy viviendo, la situación ha sido inusual: lluvias por más de cinco horas dejan varias viviendas anegadas, lo que suele resolverse de forma más rápida, no así las inundaciones ocasionadas por los ríos, que se han salido de su cauce habitual y han inundado la sabana y las casas aledañas.
Quiero hacer énfasis en la situación que vive nuestra amiga, @santamorillo, mi amiga personal desde hace más de quince años. Si recuerdan sus publicaciones pasadas, donde iba manifestando su preocupación por la altura del río Apure y el miedo a que se repitieran eventos de su infancia. Ella vive, desde que nació, al frente de este por la parte de Guárico, en una población llamada Puerto Miranda. Una hermosa vista del majestuoso río la ha acompañado por siempre, pero esta también se volvió tenebrosa ante la amenaza por la crecida del mismo. Dos panoramas totalmente distintos.

Desde 1996 no había ocurrido nada que temer, pero este año, a causa del cambio climático, las inundaciones han estado a la orden del día. Mi amiga Santa comenzó a tomar previsiones; esta era la palabra que más repetía desde comienzos del mes de julio y no solo las tomó, sino que motivó a sus familiares y demás vecinos para que buscaran la forma de preservar sus bienes y animales ante una inundación inminente. La sorpresa mayor fue que la inundación llegó por la sabana, con la crecida del río Portuguesa, afluente del río Apure.

El agua, uno de los cuatro elementos de la naturaleza, una vez que se desborda, causa daños inimaginables. Hemos visto con preocupación su fuerza para romper muros, tumbar casas, filtrarse y socavar carreteras importantes, lo que dejó incomunicado al estado Apure, que ha sido medianamente resuelto con el uso de gabarras y canoas.
Es realmente impresionante el caudal y la fuerza del agua. Hoy nuestra amiga Santa necesita de nuestra ayuda; su casa quedó afectada, al igual que la de todo ese caserío, desde el 25 de julio; aún se mantiene con agua dentro y alrededor; pasará todavía un tiempo para que ella pueda volver a su hogar. Solemos decir que lo material se recupera, pero todos quienes vivimos en Venezuela sabemos lo que nos cuesta restaurar y reponer las pérdidas.

I want to emphasize the situation experienced by our friend, @santamorillo, a close friend of mine for more than fifteen years. If you recall her past posts, where she expressed her concern about the height of the Apure River and her fear of a repeat of the events of her childhood, she has lived, since birth, across the river from Guárico, in a town called Puerto Miranda.
