We are living in a place near the mountain and a flowing river, so one of the locals' sources of income here is through them. Some are planting vegetables and fruits in the mountains, and some are going after the blessings coming from the river through fishing.
We have been living here for almost a decade already, and my nephews were born here. And fishing has been part of our lives, especially during the rainy season. Recently, my nephews were planning to go to the river, and I said I must accompany them on this outdoor adventure.
My nephews prepared their rods and even grabbed some earthworms as their bait for the fish. We walked towards the river, which is just across our home. It only took us 2 minutes to walk here, and we are finally seeing the flowing water.
I brought my foldable camping chair with me so I could sit down in front of the river. I watched the water flowing, and I am always fascinated by the beauty of nature and outdoor adventures like this. Aside from feeling closer to nature, it feels like an escape from chaos and negativity.
As I sat down, I watched my nephews prepare their fishing rods and get themselves ready for the adventure. They do not need much of my help since they already know what they are doing. They have gone fishing on their own several times before, so they are used to it.
After a few minutes, they are already throwing their rods into the water. It was frustrating on the first tries, and they usually get small fish, which they threw back to the water. They were enjoying the moment with both laughter and frustration - but I know they're after the experience.
The sky showed signs of upcoming heavy rain, so we decided to pack up early. Somewhere in between the times of throwing their fishing rods into the water, they just showed me how happy they are that I joined them in their adventure.
By the end of the morning, we are already on our way home without any fish at all. But I know, it's the memories that mattered to these little guys. That was more than enough for them. Until next time, and I hope we will be catching a lot for a more memorable adventure with them.
