Years ago, I could not imagine myself cooking our family's lunch. I hated cooking and the kitchen, and it was really challenging for me to learn how to cook. But as I grew up and I began to live away from home during my college years, I had no other choice but to learn how to cook my own food, or else I would starve. And recently, I have been learning about different recipes, and one of my favorites is the "Nilagang Baboy" or Boiled Pork Soup.
First things first, I got the ingredients I need - from the vegetables, the pork, as well as the seasonings. I have prepared them all in the kitchen and got them ready before I started cooking. I just set them aside for a while while preparing the pan.
I am not a professional in cooking, and this is just how I cook our Nilagang Baboy. I put some water, salt, pepper, and onions in a pan and let it boil. Next, I put the pork to make it tender and tasty during its first boil. I added more seasonings as well.
While waiting, I also prepared the vegetables I needed. I got some cabbage and sweet corn. I forgot to buy some potatoes, but these are also good enough.
I prepared another seasoning and water in another pan, and moved the pork in there. This time, it will be our soup. Again, I let it boil for a while. I need to make sure that the pork is tender.
After a few more minutes, I put the sweet corn. You may notice that I put a lot of them, and it is because everyone in our family loves them, especially the kids and my partner. I just covered the pan so that everything will be cooked perfectly.
In about 10 minutes, I checked and tried it, and the corn made the taste of the soup even better. Now it has a sweet blend. Then, I already put the cabbage. And this time, I will not wait for another 10 minutes because I know it will be cooked right away, maybe in 2-3 minutes.
When I had already cooked our Nilagang Baboy, the next thing I prepared was our rice. Then, it was time for a taste test. It's time to eat our lunch. I already called everyone, but I made one last check on the viand I cooked. The soup tastes so good, and the vegetables are cooked perfectly.
I prepared the table and got us some plates and bowls. As I saw the whole family enjoying the soup, I was so happy that I learned how to cook this. And I will surely enjoy cooking more for them.
