There's something truly magical about midweek moments. You don't have the Monday rush feeling, and with the adrenaline of the most-awaited Friday. Wednesdays feel like a day for slowing down and noticing every minute, allowing us to enjoy it fully. And that's why we enjoyed our walk in the heart of Olongapo City.
This week, my partner and I planned a date in the city. We had to ride a bus for an hour before we could enjoy our midday stroll. Before we touched down in the town, we first took a moment to look out at the scattered clouds through the bus window and watch other cars in the streets.
After an hour of travel, we had already hit the city terminal. We got off the bus, and we could already feel the bustling vibe as soon as we stepped out.
As we look around, we see a lot of vehicles making the streets busy. Street vendors are already paying attention to their carts. We could also see some restaurants with people enjoying their breakfast or early lunch.
And we also started going with the flow of the people crossing the streets. We were assisted by the traffic enforcers, who told us when to cross and when not to. Indeed, discipline in the city must be taken seriously, given the large number of vehicles on the roads.
After a few minutes of walking through the bustling streets, we are now finally walking in a quieter and less crowded space. We're going inside the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, where our favourite Harbour Point Ayala Mall is located.
It was another long walk, but we didn't mind since we were enjoying the ambience in the city so much. A few people are walking with us; some are going to work, while others are already heading home.
Finally, we are already seeing buildings, restaurants, and the mall we will be going to after a few walks. The streets are not as busy as we imagined, and it was great since we don't like crowded places that much. We enjoyed walking slowly, despite the hot weather. The sun is already making us sweat and tired, but we didn't mind as long as we were enjoying the walk.
At the end of the walk, we just embraced the tiring moment and let the city welcome us. This week, we took a walk to the town, which also served as a quick break from our old routines in the countryside.
