Hello #diy Fam

For this Month theme, International Honey Bee Day I wanted something light and shiny that still nods to the #hive, so I made these golden honeycomb #earrings #jewelry using straw #beads. They are quick and easy to make, budget friendly, and they sparkle like #honey in the sun.

> Created using Canva

Materials Used

  • Gold Straw beads
  • 0.30 mm fishing line
  • 2 earring studs
  • 2 small jump rings
  • Scissors

The Making

  • String 6 straw beads and tie them into a snug little ring.

  • To one side of the hex you already have, add 5 new beads, then go back through the first of those 5 to close the ring. Pull it snug.

  • Reuse one side of the hex you already have, add 5 new beads.
  • On the other side, pass the line through that shared side, then go back through the first of those 5 beads to close the ring. Pull it snug.

  • Keep repeating that same move: borrow a side, add 5 beads, close the ring.

  • The last hex, pass the line through 2 beads on the shared side
  • Add 3 beads to the other
  • Tie a knot twice or more to secure the ends

  • Pass the line on both sides, to the nearest beads, pull to tuck the knot inside the next bead so it disappears.
  • Cut off the excess fishing line
  • Build a matching cluster for the other ear. Same steps, same tension.

  • Open a jump ring, pass it through a strong corner on the top edge and through the loop on your earring stud, then close it neatly.

They’re light, simple yet classy. The hex pattern reads #beehive from across the room, and the bugle beads throw just the right amount of sparkle✨✨✨
