Is that title "click-baity"? I mean a little misleading I think but not click bait. The title could of read something like "I have a Foundation problem with Splinterlands" but I thought 'Foundational' gave it more pizzazz! But with that out of the way let's get into this post so you can see "my problem"!

What is Foundation(s)?

I used 'Foundation' because the packs you can buy are called "Foundations Pack" even though the Format/Mode is called "Frontier".

The Frontier Mode is a 100% Free-2-Play version of Splinterlands where you do NOT need a $10 Spellbook to play. So it is geared towards newer players but as I started to see the sands shift, Whales are playing in this league. I know that because I looked at the leaderboard and saw who was at top and when and checked out which cards they own and they dang near own the entire set of cards at max level.

You can purchase 5-card packs that contain 5 cards from the Foundation set and it includes at least 1 Rare card.

What is my Foundational Problem?

For so long I would try to play in the Frontier Mode and I would get destroyed by the same enemy team with a team made up of all Death units and it annoyed me. Each time I would play a few games and then give up for a few days.

Well then I realized I had spare DEC laying around and so I would do something crazy (I know SHOCKER)! So I went and started to buy the death cards I was getting destroyed with to build a bigger, badder, meaner death team to fight them.

And that worked like a freakin charm. I was winning games like it was nothing and honestly it made sense because I had a max level Archon and level 3-5 unit cards which were more powerful to the enemy teams in Bronze league so easy wins.

I then made it into the Silver league and started to get different formats which required more then just death cards.

This is where I said 'F it' and just started buying up Foundation cards left and right. They are surprisingly cheap honestly.

1 thing let to another and now I have at least 1 of every card and some at max level. My cards are great where they are now, but time will tell if I need to upgrade more.

And here you can see both of my accounts currently. My Main Account is ranked #7 which is crazy and my Alt account (which I haven't played with yet today is not ranked. But I am only 20 battles away from crossing the 100 battle threshold to get onto the leaderboard.

Fruits of my Labor!

When you fight in the Bronze or Silver league you can win Foundation cards and Draw entries. But once you hit the Gold League you start to win Foundation Packs!!!

And if you play enough matches and win 15 battles each day while in the Gold League that means you can earn 3 packs per day!

And you can see my Weekly Frontier Draws are up to 23 already and this is only after 2 days of playing with a good deck in frontier!

But back to the Fruits of my Labor! I have 6 packs to open so without further ado...

Let's open them all and also use Legendary and Alchemy potions because I have so many that I am getting from playing Frontier mode anyways!

I should state that the Foundation Packs are currently being sold on the secondary market for around $0.137 or 226 DEC. So if I obtain cards in each pack that are worth more than that then it was worth it!

Pack #1

This pack had nothing I really "needed" but the rare I only have as a level 1 so getting another copy was nice (even if it is worth only $0.01)

Pack #2

This pack had a Epic and a Rare which is always welcomed! The Rare is worth $0.03 and I already have him maxed out, and the Epic is worth $0.04 and I only have a level 1 so that was a good pickup!

Pack #3

And this is where I get a Legendary which is always a plus! But I already have her maxed out as well but it is a $0.08 card so WIN.

Pack #4

Getting 4 Rare's in 1 pack is a welcomed surprise and even better that 1 is a Archon (even if I have him maxed already). But those 4 Rare cards in total are worth $0.18.

Pack #5

Back to Back Barthalamas Archon cards is nice. They are worth $0.15 a piece so that's a plus! Not much else worth anything to me in this pack.

Pack #6

2 Rare's is always good even if they total to $0.04.

At the end of the day I would have made more DEC if I sold the 6 packs as opposed to opening them and selling every card. But where is the fun in that?

What I am doing though is that every time I get a card for one that I already have maxed on my main account now I am just sending to my alt account. And then when that account has it maxed out, I will just start listing them for sale. This enables me to push through with my main and get good rewards for playing daily and sending the extra to my alt so he can also start to get good rewards and then I can really double down.

Will I make a ton of profit from selling Foundation cards? No, probably not. BUT will I have fun doing it? YES!
