They believe this to be a definition of hard work or should i say not being lazy. But technically, that is not the way things work. ![photo-1507099985932-87a4520ed1d5.jpeg](https://images.hive.blog/DQmazyYuyD2io99Pugpjih7wCM9TkF5Ke1asaxMvaXGNFDp/photo-1507099985932-87a4520ed1d5.jpeg)[source]( https://unsplash.com/photos/man-holding-smartphone-looking-at-productivity-wall-decor-gZB-i-dA6ns?utm_content=creditShareLink&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=unsplash) Now, the truth of the whole matter is that we are not wired to or should i say our brains are not wired to work like that of a machine, if you push yourself so hard, your focus will fade which will lead to a low quality of work. But by taking break within short intervals, we finish our work better and faster. Take students as another example. Many try to power through exam prep by studying for six or more hours straight. According to result gotten from research, this does not work, it can can cause poor memory or exhaustion.   A smarter approach is to study for about 50 minutes, then take a 10-minute break to stretch, grab water, or take a quick walk. That little reset gives the brain space to absorb information better. The same applies in the workplace. Companies that encourage breaks usually see higher creativity and better problem-solving. A programmer who’s stuck on a bug might spend hours trying to fix it, only to find the answer pops up during a short walk outside. The point is, rest is not wasted time as seen by many. Because part of also doing a good work is taking a break , because when you take a break, you return with a very sharp focus. So instead of pushing endlessly, try building breaks into your routine. Step outside, move around, or just rest your eyes away from a screen. You’ll often find that when you sit back down, the task feels lighter, and your results come out stronger.
