Let me share what's goin on.. see, I take these 2 medications to manage my bipolar condition. I would rather not take 2, as they are basically there to do the same job.. mood stabilizer. There was a time many months ago when I didn't sleep, other than cat naps very rarely, and I was in sad shape. The medication I was prescribed that finally did put me to sleep was called Quetiapine. While it DID its job.. it worked by basically shutting me off. I call it the zombie drug. (If I was drugged up on it and asleep in bed.. and there was a fire or something.. good luck trying to get me out of bed. I think someone would have to carry me out!
Then my doc added another drug. This is called Depakote and it smells like tic tacs.. I shit u not, :P It has NO zombie effect.. in fact, I don't notice any side effects. It is quite a horse pill tho.. due to the high dosage. (500 mg)
Needless to say, I would much rather take the depakote, even at twice the dose, than to keep on taking the zombie drug. I have an appt to see a new doc to help me figure stuff out. I didn't sleep at all the night before and slept about 5 hours this night. But instead of lying in bed doing nothing till morning, I am up and hiving.. :)
I watched a vid about taking creatine, a popular muscle building supp. It is the most studied supp and all results only are good and that it is safe to take. I learned that now pple of older age are taking it not only for its muscle benefits, but for cognitive reasons and to help with little sleep too. I have the pills version of creatine monohydralte and so now am taking 10g (4 pills) per day. If it helps.. awesome! If it don't do anything.. well then, at least its a physical thing I am doing to try and better myself. sounds all good to me!
