Hey there everyone, I hope that you are kicking goals- especially with those DIY projects that sometimes can be not as easy as you originally thought (I've been there a few times before myself...lol...) but today was the exception, because although messy, it was one of the easiest DIY projects I've done lately...And that's another story...lol...
Today I made my own hair de-frizzer with a few (mostly) natural ingredients and I'll explain why.
Having had frizzy- though not particularly curly CURLY, but instead "flyaway" hair all my life, I was told by a hairdresser in the early 90's that the best de-frizzer was oil, so since then I have tried many oils- whatever I can get my hands on, but they were all a bit "greasy' by themselves and didn't really last long enough, so a few years ago, I thought to myself well "Paw Paw ointment is good for the skin and so it must be good for the hair too".
And as Paw Paw ointment is set in so much Petroluem Jelly and wax, it is actually quite a hard waxy substance so not perfect for my hair by itself and needs to be mixed with something to make it a bit thinner and manageable. And it doesn’t smell too great either.....
I also bought some Hemp oil to cook with, but then when I realised how disgusting it tasted I thought that I would repurpose it for my hair too- and yes Hemp oil is just as apparently good for your air as it is for your insides! BUT even mixing it with the poor ointment it still doesn’t smell so great......
And then the other day in the supermarket, I found this new little concoction of natural oils (branded) that smelt really nice so I decided that I would have a go and combine the three of them together, giving my hair the soothing healing benefits of the Paw Paw, aswell as the Hemp oil, with the slightly perfumed smell of the small bottle.
And this delicious looking creamy stuff is what came out and although it looks edible, I wouldn’t..... but it is perfect for my hair and my hair loves it as much as I do!
So all I had to do was melt the Paw Paw a bit, pour the other 2 ingredients into the plastic cup and stir till it was looking creamy and custardy like this.
I got tricked by a few reviews on YouTube with African-American women and they’re gorgeous frizzy locks promoting the use of a particular curling custard so I bought that in a couple of other products from the same brand and when I got them I realised that they were just chemical gels with fancy "homebaked family names, so I will continue to create my own, because I've also realised, that no-one can do what you want for you, as good as you can and that's why I am and always will be a DIY-er.
