Everyone loves snacks!
Greetings to all you Hivers! Today we're going to check out some local snacks in Thailand ready to make you hungry over here. I mean really who doesn't like snacks? When you're hungry and need something to fill your empty stomach Thailand has got you covered. The beauty for me is that so many of these are vegetarian and even vegan and can be found everywhere in Thailand at any market morning or evening. The one thing you'll never do in Thailand is go hungry!
Most of these are 5-12 baht with 30 baht to 1 US dollar. Combine a nice cup of tea for 15 bath and you've a nice breakfast.
Of course everything has a down side and there is a bit of plastic involved and of course some sugar. They love sweet in Asia! So let's have a look already :)
Most of these involve sticky rice, coconut and pandan leaf. Hey they've even pizza and sandwiches!
These are my go to. Most are vegan and some have a little egg mixed in. The round ones at the bottom have bean paste inside. Yummy.
Thai love eggs for breakfast. Personally I don't like eggs but pizza? Love it although haven't had it here haha.
Another go to tray. This one has lots of sticky rice. The upper left is a bit salty sticky rice in coconut milk and the ones in banana leaves on the right are sticky rice with banana inside. Golden goodies for cycling! The green ones are green bean and above that is cassava with coconut. All very tasty!
Get your cake groove on here. I love cake but this is too sweet for me and I try to avoid eggs. I did eat the cookies on the lower right as they're vegan. The lovely thing in Phuket is that the locals fully understand and respect veganism as they have a long tradition of veganism in their religion.
Cycling Thailand and Snack Love
I've cycle toured around Thailand quite a bit and I'll tell you these snacks have saved me many a time. Normally I can find a decent breakfast at a market and lunch at a vegan restaurant. Dinner is a bit trickier and often times ended being a bunch of snacks making up a dinner. When you're super hungry and tired after cycling you just want to eat, shower and sleep and not too picky about any of those three as long as they happen soon and easily.
Luckily, this tea shop is just near my house and besides being closed on Sunday is my daily go to for a quick breakfast whether going for a cycle ride at 6am or later in the morning for a relaxing tea with snacks with a concealed view of traffic and the local happenings on the street.
Thanks for joining me on my snack exploration. How about snacks in your country? I like to eat often so snacks are perfect!

This is the security guard there hehe. Friendliest cat I know and yes she's upside down, not the camera.
