### Greetings SplinterLovers 💛
Today I will talk about **Survival Mode** of Splinterlands, which is basically a new format or game mode with a strategic addition that transforms the way you play, focusing on managing your card collection in the long term, unlike the "Modern and Wild" formats, it does not require energy for battles, but introduces a crucial mechanic when a card is defeated, which enters a "cooldown" period and cannot be used in any game mode (Survival, Modern, Wild, Tournaments or Guild Brawls) until the cooldown ends or the season ends, an aspect that is quite important for you to know to play, so if you don't know what this new game format is about, here I will explain in detail.

The **Survival Mode**, is an innovative game format within splinterlands that allows players to use every card in their collection without the usual battle energy restrictions, unlike traditional formats, no energy is required to fight, allowing players to engage in battles continuously, as long as they have active cards, which is actually not that easy haha.
The central mechanic that defines this mode is the "Death" of a card in battle, when a card is defeated, it enters a "cooldown" state and becomes inactive, so it cannot be used again until its cooldown period expires, although there are future plans to shorten this cooldown time, according to the information shared by the team, it is a specific potion for this.
This cooldown system transforms continuous participation into a resource management challenge, where the availability of cards becomes the main limiting factor for each player, creating a layer of demand around the cards we use to play.

The **Survival Mode** differs fundamentally from the Modern and Wild formats in several crucial respects, in terms of access to cards, the Modern format restricts its use to the two most recent sets (Rebellion and Conclave Arcana), while the Wild format allows the use of all cards in the collection regardless of their edition, the **Survival Mode**, while also allowing the use of the entire collection, introduces the cooldown mechanic as mentioned above, its defining feature, which adds a layer of strategic complexity absent in the other modes, making this game mode a real challenge.
The most notable difference also lies in the "Energy" system, the Modern and Wild formats operate with an energy system that is consumed with each battle, limiting the amount of games a player can contest by a certain amount which is usually 50, the **Survival Mode** removes this energy requirement, but replaces it with the "health" of the player's collection, cards on cooldown act as the main restriction to continued participation, meaning that a player's ability to continue battling is directly dependent on the amount of cards available and not on cooldown.
Furthermore, the consequences of defeat are radically different, in Modern and Wild modes, a defeat primarily affects the player's rating, however, in **Survival Mode**, the loss of a card has a direct and significant implication, as the card becomes unplayable in all battle formats (Survival, Modern, Wild, Tournaments and Guild Brawls) until its cooldown ends, this interconnectedness forces players to consider the impact of each Survival battle on their ability to participate in the entire game ecosystem, meaning that if you don't manage your collection, your rewards and ability to play in other modes is affected.

- **Card Cooling:** The cooldown duration depends on the rarity, level and foil type of the card, **Gold Foil** cards have half the cooldown time, all cooldowns are reset at the end of each season.
- **Archons:** An archon goes into cooldown if his team loses the battle.
- **Ties:** In case of a tie, neither the archons nor the units go into cooldown as long as they have played the same team, but, in case the teams are different, but still tied, only the "Archons" survive the battle.
- **Surrender:** Surrender in a battle puts a random unit and summoner from your collection on cooldown, but, in reality, I don't recommend surrendering in a battle, I find it worth playing, of course, you should go armed with a good deck and if you happen to be unprepared with a good collection, better not play it.
- **Letter Management:** All your cards are automatically marked for **Survival Mode**, but you can unmark them or use "custom sets" to protect your most valuable cards from accidentally going on cooldown, which is a key feature to avoid losing rewards over the course of the entire season.
**Essential Strategies:**

- **Value of Duplicates:** Having multiple copies of a card is crucial, as they serve as a backup if a main card goes on cooldown. It is recommended to fuse cards only when strictly necessary, but, the idea of managing a collection, is to have several copies in case that important card that we always want to have in a battle is defeated.
- **Adaptability:** Don't limit yourself to a single lineup, experiment with different combinations of monsters and summoners to improve your victory rates and preserve your collection, being this the really important thing when playing in "Survival Mode", because if you preserve your collection, you will stay inside the arena for as long or as many days as it takes to play.
- **Strategic Sacrifice:** In battles against far superior opponents, it is smarter to "surrender" the game by using an archon and a low level monster to control which cards go into cooldown and minimize the damage to your main collection, something that works very well and is clearly preferable to the idea of surrender, since at that moment where we surrender, randomness enters and we may lose an important card there.
- **Prioritizes Health:** Cards with low health are "Time Bombs", as they often go into cooldown, even if you win the battle, prioritize monsters with high health to ensure their survival, this is part of managing your collection.
- **Seasonal Rentals:** Only seasonal rentals are allowed in this mode, which changes the dynamics of the rental market towards longer-term agreements, and also allows for better resource management if you wish to rent more competitive and complete decks.
**Rewards and Economics**

- **SPS Rewards Pool:** **Survival Mode** has a SPS reward pool of the same size as the Modern and Wild formats, and the rewards are based on reward shares earned in each battle, basically as they have always worked, plus, this is great because not many players may want to risk their collections, so it can be an opportunity to earn rewards.
- **Ranking Rewards:** There are also rewards for players with the highest rankings at the end of each season, so the goal is to reach the top 100.
- **Glint:** Glint rewards will be added in the future.
- **Staking the SPS:** Having staking sps in your account significantly increases the rewards you can earn, increasing your multiplier at the same time, but, remember that this goes hand in hand with your collection.

The **Survival Mode** is a "high risk" format that requires smart decisions and efficient deck management, it tests the players' patience and ingenuity, as success depends not only on tactical skill, but also on the ability to manage resources in the long term and anticipate losses.
In summary, Survival Mode is a test of collection management and long-term strategy, where every decision has "real consequences" on the availability of your cards, offering a challenging and potentially very rewarding game experience, so tell me, do you like this game mode? I'll read you in the comments.
