Continuing with the Splinterlands formats, if you already understand the basics of the "Modern Format," it's time to up the challenge level and dive into the limitless world of the "Wild Format." This game mode is a battlefield for collectors and veteran players, where you can use endless strategies in each battle, since all editions are open here, which is both an advantage and a disadvantage in a way. In this post, I will guide you through the details of the Wild Format: its unique features, the requirements you need to compete, and the strategies to master and get the best rewards if you decide to play in it. ---  ## Introduction to the Wild Format   The Wild Format is a game mode that stands out for its total freedom in card selection, since unlike the "Modern Format" and as I mentioned earlier, here you can use all the card sets released in the history of Splinterlands. This includes older sets such as Alpha, Beta, Untamed, and Chaos Legion, as well as more recent ones such as Rebellion and Conclave Arcana. Reward and Promotion cards from all editions are also included, which gives a huge range of possibilities and battle environments that make gameplay a little more complex. This openness creates a dynamic and much more strategic gaming environment than in the "Modern Format." Each battle in the Wild Format is a clash of massive collections, and the possibilities and combinations are almost endless. In fact, because there are so many cards, it is complex to establish combinations and strategies. Of course, it's all practice, and there are many experienced players in "Wild" who find it very easy, so it's just a matter of getting into it. **Requirements and How to Start Playing** 📑 Playing in Wild Format is an important step for any serious Splinterlands player, and it requires a significantly greater investment and commitment than the rest, as there are many cards and obtaining them all is not a favorable option, although once you gain experience, playing with certain SETS is sufficient. **1. The Spellbook and Your Collection:** As in Modern format, you will need to have the Spellbook to participate in ranked battles and earn rewards. However, to be competitive in Wild, a basic card collection will not suffice. Here, the power of your deck is directly linked to your investment. To be a serious contender, you will need a well-diversified card collection, including some of the older and newer sets, as many of these combinations are part of the "Meta" in the “Wild Format.”  **2. The Wild Pass:** The Cost of Freedom One of the main barriers to entry for new players is the Wild Pass. In order to play in ranked battles in this format, a season pass must be purchased at a cost of 2,000 DEC or Credits. This is a recurring requirement that makes participation in the Wild Format a continuous investment, unlike the Modern Format, which does not require this pass, clearly impacting the rewards that players can obtain.  **3. Double SPS in Staking:** To obtain the same reward multiplier as in the Modern Format, Wild players must have double the SPS staked in their accounts. This significantly increases the entry cost for players looking to maximize their earnings and compete in the higher leagues. Added to this is the “Wild Pass”, which exponentially increases the investment in this mode.  **4 . Investing in Old Cards:** Many of the most powerful old cards are mostly found in the Alpha, Beta, and Untamed editions. Not many of them are useful now, but in the wild format you need several of them if you want to survive, so you definitely need to buy them or rent them, as they help with gameplay. Of course, in my opinion, the newer cards are more powerful, but you need some old ones.  ---  ## Strategies for Earning Rewards  Rewards in Wild format are obtained in a similar way to Modern format, but with some key differences. Although end-of-season prizes can be very high for elite players, the daily mechanics can be less lucrative for those who don't have a relatively optimized collection. Basically, as I mentioned earlier, you need older cards to balance your gameplay. If you only play with new cards, other players will combine them and have a big advantage over you as a player.  - **Less Glint per Victory:** At a rating and with the same multipliers, the Wild Format awards less Glint per victory than Modern. This encourages players to climb to higher leagues, where the overall rewards are greater, to compensate for this difference. However, this is not easy, as elite players literally have all the SETS in the game, and competing at that level means having a large investment behind you. ---  - **The Power of Your Deck:** Your ability to win, and therefore earn rewards, depends directly on the quality of your card collection. Renting or buying powerful cards from older sets (especially legendary and gold cards) is crucial to mastering the format and ensuring a high win rate, as combining these with newer cards creates truly powerful synergies. Therefore, renting or buying these cards generally means a higher investment. ---  - **SPS Staking:** SPS staking remains vital, but keep in mind that you will need a larger investment to remain competitive in terms of rewards. The goal is to reach the SPS thresholds that give you the highest multipliers in your league, but as I said, it requires much more investment than in "Modern," which generally makes this format more suitable for players with greater purchasing power. ---  ## Conclusion  Wild Format is the pinnacle of the Splinterlands experience for those with a substantial collection or the intention to build one. It is a game mode that values strategic depth, card rarity, and long-term investment. Although the cost of entry is significantly higher due to the Wild Pass and the need for more expensive cards and more SPS, in my experience, this format can be enjoyed, but you should keep in mind that the good rewards are in the higher leagues, so it is not recommended for players with little capital.
