Good day, amazing people of the Hive Blockchain. Welcome back to my blog. It is another edition in the #hivelearners community. I am so delighted to participate in this week's prompt, friends.
No matter how independent you may try to be, you need one or two friends who will support, motivate and inspire you. It is not about having thousands of friends; what matters is having genuine friends who will make life fun and amazing for you – friends who will stand by you both in difficult moments and when life is easy for you. If there is anything I cherish so much, it is genuine friends. They are hard to come by. Like they will always say, 'Show me your friend, and I will tell you who you are,' which means your friend is capable of building and destroying you. My mom will always tell me that friends are an investment for the future.
One thing about life is it will bring people into your life. I have had many friends; some have come and gone, while some are still standing with me. The best thing you can do for yourself is to surround yourself with good friends. Don’t just pick friends because you want to; look out for people who will add value to your life. For someone like me, I care about picking my friends.
I am not the kind of person that keeps a large circle of friends but few friends with values and potential. Friends who really understand the meaning of friendship and who are ready to go extra miles for someone they call their friend. Once you have real friends, life will be so safe for you because you have people you can run up to, a shoulder you can cry on, and memories you can create with.
There are ups and downs in friendship. What matters is the ability to understand each other. There is no true friendship without sacrifice; if you don’t sacrifice your resources, it will be your time or listening ear for a truth. True friends are hard to come by, and when you come across one, value, cherish and respect that friend.
There is nothing as beautiful as having friends who you can comfortably share your secrets with; you don’t have to pretend when you are around them. They understand that you are not perfect, and they accept you the way you are. I have come across friends who really hurt me badly. I was so depressed because I didn’t expect such harm from a friend. At a point, I had to tell myself that not every friend that comes into your life will stay; some of them come around to teach you a lesson, while some are just like a stepping stone. Life will not be fun without friends; life will be empty without friends who will spice it up for us. No matter how you try to stay away from friends, you still need them in your life.
Friends are important, but I don’t think it is right for us to depend on our happiness on our friend. I always tell people that true happiness comes from the inner mind. Your happiness is in your hands, friend; friends are just there to spice up the happiness.
True friends are a divine gift. I don’t joke with the amazing friends I have in my life. I am always grateful that the universe brought them to me. They are so supportive; they stick with me even when things are so bad for me. I don’t have many friends, but the one I have is one in a million.
