Hello everyone, it's your K-drama lover here. I hope you're all good? This is an amazing topic for the week, and as always, I'll always pop in.
I've heard a lot of, if not all Korean words, and that's because I see K-dramas a lot (I'm a big time fan). Most times I tease my friends and siblings with the ones I can remember. But, have you ever heard of a word that feels like a warm embrace? If you've not, meet sarang (사랑), the Korean word for “love”. It's short but sweet. Even if it's a romantic “saranghae” (I love you) whispered to your partner, or to a friend who’s always there, or even a quiet moment of self-love, it always makes the heart brim. In Korean culture, sarang isn't just a talk or word, “IT'S ACTION”. It's sharing a warm bowl of Kimchi, listening to someone when they speak, showing care without making a big fuss out of it, and doing the bare minimum.
This little word carries a big magic that it can totally change the way you live. So you'll be wondering why this word means a lot to me.
Okay picture this, you had a tough day, work was a mess, your mood is so low. Then the next minute, you receive a heartwarming text from your partner, bestfriend or even co worker saying “I love you, you're enough, always be happy” this is like flipping a switch suddenly, you'll feel lighter. Sarang encourages us to spread love in our own little ways, making our heart lighter and our days brighter. It could be offering a pack of lunch, a cup of coffee to someone, or you could call a friend or sibling just to catch-up with them. These are the simple act of sarang.
In relationships, sarang is not all about confessions, it's a game changer in as much as you're consistent, and show up always for your partner. Just try it today, tell that person “saranghae” or actually it. Or just try having a solo time for self love, trust me it will help you build connection. Always choose love daily, in tiny, intentional ways. It's a reminder to keep your heart open, whether for yourself or others.
Let sarang lead, say it, act it, feel it, and live it, and cherish those beautiful moments.
