What has been going on in Claire's crazy kitchen and why have I been so quiet and what have I been plotting? Well, it suddenly looks like I have my work cut out for me! Another baking season is upon us!
The sugar debarkle Urgh. Kids. So, the kids have been over using the sugar, some more gulty than others so @zakludick had the brilliant idea of sharing out the sugar between us all in equal amounts. The idea is that the sugar is now their responsibility and if their tub empties too fast, it tough takkies ๐๐ My tub has gone missing though... I will have to investigate it's whereabouts. I probably took it downstairs to make porridge or tea and forgot it down there. sigh. It's ordinary sugar though so it wont seriously affect my baking as I have my own supplies of different sugars. Brilliant idea though babe!
A custom Red Velvet with Berries for my Mom ๐ซ๐ The photos just don't do it justice! It is such a gorgeous cake! It was a total disaster to prep though. My piping bag sprung a leak and as a last resort I tried my piping gun which also failed me! It's a miracle I got the rosettes done that I wanted. Then we realized that there is something amiss with our front fridge (the kitchen one - probably just needs to be defrosted( as its not getting as cold as it should, meaning the icing couldn't set properly without having to use our back fridge in the garage ๐๐ I am so proud though! It's going to be divine!๐ฐ Plus, added nous, there were enough berries left over for Aime and I to have breakfast ๐ฅฐ
A caramel surprise I've never made before
SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHH This is supposed to be a secret! Lol. This cake is the inspiration behind the second cake which I will be staring tonight! I am starting to feel like a walking cake - covered in batter, icing and crumbs. Lol. This is a recipe I have never tried before but whe I searched caramel cakes for inspiration for @zakludick 's birthday, this was the most divine recipe I found. We'll have to see how it turns out! Once I am done, I will post the recipe incase I have to make tweaks here and there!
I have already started plotting and making decorations: caramel chocolate stars and hearts with gold dust!
Halloween
It's technically like two months away, but if I've learnt anything from my previous escapades for Mother's Day and Easter, etc, I have to get in early and advertise like crazy! My marketing diploma course says people need to see an ad at least 7 times before making a purchase. Apparently it's called "The Rule Of 7" bought some more fondant and I am so excited for the creativity we'll find or coating the biscuits and making cupcake toppers! Here are some inspirational screenshots I took. What awesome ideas! I can't wait to get going!
And, in between all of this, I am building a website for Claire's crazy bakes! I have tried Googles website building AP but it's limited in so many ways. So it looks like I'll be learning WordPress from scratch. Wish me luck and watch this space!
