I find this sickening -- the firing of Biden staffers for marihuana use.
The policy and procedures for hiring are set by White House. I will accept that the Secret Service should vet an employee's background; and I accept that these investigators have to go by the letter of the law. However there was an easy fix to this problem - and a fix which would have given the Biden Administration applause even from those like me, who despise his platform and his what his administration is doing.
Biden could have stood up in front of the American people and said that these individuals are disqualified from serving by an archaic, antiquated law that ought to be changed. He should have urged Congress to make a change to the relevant laws saying that, at the very least, marihuana use should not automatically disqualify an employee, that the final decision should be at the discretion of the President and heads of agencies regarding their subordinates.
