Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to reminisce about spending time in the beauty of the mountains!
Mountain Memories
As things are winding down..
I absolutely love the summer, for the reasons that other people are very fond of it. Lots of beautiful weather, spending time outdoors, wearing shorts and getting a hell of a lot of sun exposure! It's a really enjoyable time of year that's for sure.
I do really enjoy all of the seasons though, and I think that's important! We have to have a spice to life, some variety where we can look forward to things that aren't many, many months off or a whole year off. It's good to look forward to a big trip or something, but not really needed to have to do something as major as ONLY looking forward to the summer. There are sadly a lot of people who absolutely hate the autumn, winter and spring. That's a pretty fucking miserable life, if you ask me.
With me though, as much as I enjoy summer, I equally enjoy autumn, if not more! It's a perfect and crisp time of year. The mornings are cool or cold, the days are nice and warm still, and the smell in the air is wonderful as the seasons are changing their stripes and shedding off the summer beauty.
Last year we didn't get to go on a short trip anywhere which was sad, because I was really looking forward to spending some time in the mountains. I'm really going to be figuring out ways for getting some time up there this time!
The mistake I made last year was trying to plan it too late. It just didn't work out because by the time we tried, the hotels were fucking obscenely expensive and nobody wants to pay some premium bullshit price for something that is normally a third or less of the cost when they aren't gouging people. I get it, we all gotta make our money.. but price gouging is pretty shitty in a lot of ways.
Being up in the mountains during the autumn is just a wonderful experience! In writing this.. I wanted to add a few more pictures than I normally do so that I can sit and appreciate the beauty of it all!
Naturally though, one of the challenges in visiting the mountains in the autumn is timing it right. There are certainly a lot more times where it's raining and inclement weather up there, so even if you book something weeks in advance, there is no guarantee that you'll be getting a good set of days in terms of the weather. I don't mind it too much though, because even if it's shitty out, there's always a nice drive that one can go on to visit things and just look at them from the car.
I've got a lot of memories as a kid going into the mountains up north, where my grandfather lived on a beautiful and picturesque hilltop overlooking some really beautiful land. Unfortunately, as things go, he sold it for the wrong reasons and did other things. We still enjoyed visiting him in his other house but it just wasn't the same.
What about you, do you have a particular place that you like to visit and look forward to it when the time of year comes? Where is it? Let me know in the comments!
