1000 years in the future! The story of my Holozing Fan-Lore

Hello trainers!

Since my last post, I've been thinking a lot about some things I had already published about my fan-lore, that whole system of creatures and humans fighting to gain the upper hand and protect themselves from each other. I never imagined I would get to the point where I could develop a vibrant world with complex situations.

After that, and some comments, I also expanded on that world and we talked a little about the "digital world" that the developers originally planned for this universe, one where the creatures only existed in a digital environment where humans could enter and interact with them in countless ways.

Let's talk a little more about that world and what we can do with it. I was thinking that somehow we could link the two stories with a time lapse; that is, we have the first part of the story where humans discover the creatures and somehow domesticate them, with all the consequences that entails.

And then we have the jump into the future where none of those creatures exist anymore, except in the digital world that humans enter. I think these two storylines make the story much more interesting. In the future, where are the creatures? What did humans do to reach this point where the creatures no longer exist? We could even maintain the archetypes of the main characters, portraying them in the future as successors or reincarnations of those early humans who discovered the creatures and decided to use them to bring civilization to its current state.

When I started thinking about how to connect these two timelines, I realized that the most fascinating aspect isn't just the contrast between the "physical world" and the "digital world," but also what happens in between.

That gap between the past and the future is where the real story lies: what happened for those creatures, which were once an essential part of human life, to end up confined to a digital space? Was it a slow, almost natural process, or was there a cataclysmic event that forced humanity to abandon that coexistence?

Imagine that, over generations, humans began to exploit the creatures beyond their capacity to withstand it. Perhaps it wasn't just about battles, but also about using them as tools, energy sources, or even weapons of war in massive conflicts.

In the end, what started as a coexistence turned into a dangerous dependency. The creatures ceased to be seen as companions and became resources. And like any resource, they were eventually depleted. Here's where the digital world comes in. Seeing the impending collapse, the developers of this technology would have created a kind of "digital ark,"

a space where the creatures could be preserved, even though they no longer existed physically. Humans could connect to it, enter, and continue interacting with them. But the uncomfortable question is:

did they really do it out of love and a desire for preservation, or simply because they couldn't let go of something that was already part of their power and identity?

The idea of maintaining the archetypes of the main characters also opens many narrative possibilities. In the first part, we could have the pioneers: the strategist who seeks to control everything,

the warrior who forms an emotional bond with the creatures, the curious one who wants to understand their mysteries… and then, in the future, their "spiritual heirs" reappear, but within the digital world.

It would be like an echo of history, as if these personality patterns were inevitable, repeating themselves in each generation.

What's interesting is that in the digital world, these reincarnations wouldn't be limited by the physical realm. They could interact with the creatures in ways unimaginable in the past: merging with them, sharing memories, manipulating the digital environment itself. It's a leap not only technologically, but also spiritually.

What was once a struggle for dominance and survival transforms into a journey toward understanding what it truly means to be connected with these creatures.

And of course, this raises another big question: what if the creatures never truly disappeared? What if what exists in the digital world isn't just a copy, but their true essence, waiting for humanity to be ready to reconnect with them?

That would be a huge game-changer: the digital realm wouldn't be just a "cheap imitation" of what was lost, but a new plane of existence where the relationship between humans and creatures can begin anew, drawing on all the lessons learned from past mistakes.
