Hello trainers!
We continue talking about the adventure and the general themes I think would be useful in the story of Holozing or its world. This week I've had a pretty productive time coming up with some of the core parameters of the Holo-creatures world, as well as the main characters who would serve as our lenses for the adventure.
But I want to pause to talk about some pretty excellent feedback you've been leaving me, particularly from user @akijirokoma, who has given me some good alternatives for the entire world of Holozing, somewhat following the original vision of its developers.
This is the comment I liked most from my previous post:
Let me translate it so you can understand better:
Imagine this:
There is a new video game that is very popular worldwide. The top 100 players receive generous rewards and financial benefits (there is good money involved since the game generates a digital currency for information traffic).
This makes everyone want to be there. It is harmless, you make friends, and you have the opportunity to earn a lot of money, until a group of people notice the massive data traffic and start hijacking information, threatening to empty bank accounts, divert funds, withdraw pensions...
until a group of kids start fighting back, and a hunt begins within the server where every time one of the bad guys is defeated, their stolen database is deleted. I like this idea because it allows game users to decide which side to take, to be a healer or to be one of the others.
Let's explore this alternative a little more. I found it appealing, and it actually closely resembles what I originally envisioned for the story: a digital world filled with creatures that are also used to experiment with certain things, where some users are tasked with solving the world's errors.
Along with this, there were two worlds: one was the elemental islands, where humans who entered the game could explore and, alongside the creatures, discover all sorts of secrets. Basically, it was a world dedicated specifically to capturing Holo-Creatures and experimenting.
And the other was the safe zone for those who arrived at the Holo-World, where most of the experiments with the trapped creatures took place, and where the battles between creatures and everything else we might consider a Safe Zone in a video game took place.
In this scenario there were three main characters, the two I had already planned for my story are quite similar to the ones I had for that one, but there was a third who would be something of a rival/villain.
This one would make our lives more difficult but without being exactly evil, just preserving the world and blaming humans for the experiments carried out on these creatures, hinting that the Holo-creatures once existed in the real world but were Extinct
I think it's a very interesting approach. I struggled to connect the digital world and everything the creatures are with something tangible from the real world that would add a little more tension to the story. I still have some things planned, but now I have two "lines" of fanlore.
The line where the Holo-Creatures actually exist, are real, and have relationships that affect the world humans live in. Some are even Seen as mystical beings who helped form the elemental islands on which they live.
And this line where Holo-creatures are part of this virtual world that humans use for research or for direct fun or entertainment.
