Traditions and rituals do not always have to refer solely to cultural practices and customs of a particular group. The daily activities we constantly participate in even when we do not intend to are most definitely personal traditions and the best part about them is that they are distinctively unique to every individual ranging from behavioral patterns to how you live your life. Everybody has a personal tradition that usually starts of small untill it metamorphs into a huge part of their that it even becomes extremely difficult to let go.

Over the years I have realized that there are a lot of activities that I have been indulging in and they have become part of what makes of what makes me who I am today some of which are just downright silly like the fact that I can never brush my teeths without finding traces of toothpaste juice on either my shirt or pants🤣🤣. I won't really say this counts as tradition since I don't even want it to happen but still have very little control over it and even when I try to brush my teeths carefully, I end up hating the experience so I have come to terms with the results of teeth brushing journey😞.

Being a part of a very large family, one has very little opportunities to be by themselves. There's always someone in your face, something to do and errands to run. Realizing I was probably never getting some alone time at home, I started heading out every evening to be by myself away from the rowdy nature of the house. What started of as an escape slowly transformed into a constant cultural practice. Every evening when the time is just a few minutes to 7, I step out of the house for a stroll with earplugs cancelling the noise of the busy street enjoying people go about their business without the usual sound sometimes trying to make out what they are saying by reading their lips. This started during my teenage phase and somehow it managed to grow with me till this very point of my life. Back then in school the necessity of an evening stroll became very noticeable as it became my own version of cooling off after hectic day. Whenever I am done reading, I go for a stroll at dusk, broke and need some sort of distraction? Trust me there is a lot to look at when you move about during the dark. Need to clear my head after a messy argument or just need some alone time to just me and my thoughts, best believe this method will always come through😁😁. This practice is not only fun but therapeutic and healthy as well. It helps me be a part of my surrounding through subconscious observations.

This tradition might not seem like a big deal to a lot of persons largely because of how casual it sounds. But it is such a huge part of my being that I tense up without it. I no no longer indulge in it as much as I used to since relocating to a new environment but I still ensure I go for it three times weekly at the very least. Do try taking an evening stroll once in a while, it helps clear the mind, ease the soul and build the body... Thank you The first image is mine but the last two were generated using Meta AI
