Are We Too Stressed While Working

I was reading a news where a 26 year old Microsoft died while working. As per the news, the guy was working day and night and he was stressful for the hectic work. I know software development is little hectic but are we ignoring the health just to earn a little more. Are we getting burnt while working and neglecting our health all together.

This is not new, a lot of professions not only software development, have so many diseases because of sitting too long as well as work related stress. We all want to earn a lot of money and thus we want to be top of our work and neglect the health altogether. And this leads to a bigger problem. I have seen a lotof people having a lot of health issues and the main reason is the stress.

Also people want to earn more in the initial years so that they can retire afterwards. Bit think about it, say you work for 15 years day and night and got a lot of diseases, will you peacefully retire after that, no right. And what if you don't retire after 15 years, move to 25 years but keep your body healthy. This is a better option because now you have a good healthy life as well as you can enjoy your retired life.

So taking stressful job at the start of the career thinking to earn big can backfire because that can hag a bad impact on your health. And health is wealth, this is the mantra we all should follow. I know we need money but not at the expense of our health. I have not taken a job at Big 4 company and started working on a small company only for the work life balance because I don't want to take much stress at work.
