I am on subreddit called Fire_Ind where people talk about their milestone, their progress and what is working for them. Now today one of the younger member posted that he has saved around 50L in 3 years of working but he is not happy with his life. He said that even though he wants to retire early but also exploring the possibility of You Only Live Once.

He said that he is earning good and saving very much but he is not happy from inside. He wants to spend more and experience the life in his twenties before getting married or getting kids. Now if you think there are 2 things here. Since he can save 50 Lakhs in 3 years, that means in another 10 years he can save and create corpus so that he can retire at the age of 35 to 40 years. But again his 20s will not come back, what he can experience now, he cannot experience in his 40s.
We all face this dilemma whether we should enjoy now or save for the future. I feel we should do both. Now if I take the same person example, he has done a good job in saving 50 Lakhs in first 3 years. Now since he is earning good, he can save some amount as well as use some salary for experiences. Since he has already achieved 50 lakhs, that will groww exponentially along with that he can save some amount which can give him good corpus.
And at the same time he can work on the experiences so that he will not feel that he missed something in life. I am also doing the same. I travel a lot along with saving. For me travelling is the experience which I want to cherish in my old age and I am doing it along with saving so that I will not have any regret when I age.
