For my first post in this community I would like to share a recent addition to my coin collection that has a little nostalgia with it. This particular quarter is part of the National Parks series of quarters issued by the United States Mint. It represents the George Rogers Clark National Park in Vincennes, Indiana.
Vincennes happens to be the town where I was born and spent most of my youth. It is also the site of what was once the territorial capital of Indiana before it was a state and the location of Fort Sackville during the Revolutionary War.
The quarter commerates Clark's winter crossing of the flooded plains to recapture Fort Sackville in mid-winter. If you take the time to watch the videos provided, it will give you a a good summary of the events.
The obverse of he coin is the traditional Washington bust. There are some who considered Clark to be the General Washington of the West during the Revolution.

If you have any further information about this coin you would like to add, like historical information I left out or want to correct any I may have gotten wrong, please drop it in the comments.
Thanks for reading, Joe
