Well it is one of those sleepless nights. Even though I took some melatonin, it doesn't seem to help. I hate taking regular sleep meds because they make me so drozy the next day. @riverflows recommended Ashwagandha, but from what I read, those with auto-immune diseases should not take it.
So here I am, typing with the TV on in the background to drown out the buzzing and ringing from the tinnitus. It is okay though, tomorrow, or today now, is Saturday and I will be able to nap as I choose.
It is Memorial Day weekend here in the States. It is a time where we are supposed to remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Like many during this weekend, I will be firing up the BBQ grill and cooking out. It is also my time to sip a little more Irish Whiskey or drink a little more beer than usual.
As I smoke the roast we have, and cook the potatoes. I will be hanging out around the grill, more than likely messaging old comrades all day. There will be pictures of brothers in arms who are no longer with us shared on Farcebook or via messages. Several toasts will be made in silence.
Hopefully my youngest son can come over for the BBQ so I can share some stories about some of these fellas with him. It is through these stories they live on. It is because of them that I must get off my fat ass and do something everyday.
So, even though it might not be in the states, believe in war (hell I don;t care for it either), have adult beverages or a roast to cook, take some time to celebrate those sheep dogs who guard the sheep where you live.
Thanks for reading,
Joe
