Not sure about you, but I wouldn't want to be a school teacher here in the U.S. Even when I was able to work, there would have to be an amazing salary attached and we know that is not the case for ou teachers here. Not even close for the time and own money they put into it.
Years ago when I first left the service and was still between jobs I tried substitue teaching once. It was a horrible experience, the kids were the worst behaved and that combined with my more discplined style at the time did not mix well. It was the first and last day I substituted.
Needless to say a teachers job would not be made easier by fame I am sure. But can you imagine your face being placed on the nation's coinage? That is waht happened to a young Philadelphia schoolteacher by the name of Anna Willess Willams in 1879.
You see Anna was introduced to the engraver George T. MOrgan in 1876 through an artist friend who had once painted her portrait. Morgan was seeking a new design for the silver dollar that broke the traditional molds. He was looking for a model of Liberty to do this.
Anna finally finally reluctantly agreed to pose for five sessions with Morgan and he was so impressed he used it for the new silver dollar's obverse design. Part of her agreeing to sit for Morgan was that he was to keep her identity secret.
However, a local newspaper in Philadephia discovered her idenitity in 1879 and published it. It earned her the nickname "The Silver Dollar Girl". Anna never liked her sudden fame and the periodic inquiries that would come after it. She preferred to focus on her teaching and did so until her retirement in 1924. Anna passed away in 1926.
Today, Anna's likeness by Morgan on the silver dollar is one of the most recognized in the coin collecting world. If you would like to read Anna's story in more detail, you can find more at this LINK.
