Sometimes a flood comes and washes everything clean. Not here though, here it just shows up with a load of trash and makes a mess of things. Louisville is a river town, so flooding isn't exactly unexpected but it's still about as welcome as your mother-in-law.
This year the Ohio River was running a buy one, get one free deal on floods, we got hit with two a little over a month apart. These photos are all from the second flood, which rose a good bit higher than the first one had.
There was a terrible flood here back in 1937 with close to seventy percent of the city submerged, all around town you can find signs and markers showing high water marks from it. They've made a few improvements since then, downtown and most of the city were still in no danger this year. Just the folks living close to the Ohio River.
Flood or no flood, life goes on in a river town. Went down to the river both times it flooded this year and snapped some shots, was entertained to find that even half surrounded by water and partially flooded, folks were still out at the skate park having fun.
On that note, I should probably float on out of here and get some sleep or else tomorrow won't be fun. Stay dry y'all!
