Then I handed the plate of beans to my neighbour to see what she would do with it but to my surprise,she simply sat on one end of the only available bench and right before my eyes, she began to commit the same crime that made Bright Chimezie shout ”Police eh” in one of his songs...

I looked into the oot again and thought for some second, then inspiration came running, the garri. Yes, we would dish out foods into bowl like plates and pour Garri inside. It would help absorb the water and also fill our stomach.

And that was how we poured garri inside our cooked soggy rice and mixed it. Come and see us laughing at ourselves, it was as if we wanted to eat alien dish...
