I rarely talk about them, but I love them so much. Do you?

It's funny how I love clouds so much and yet I rarely write posts about them.

Maybe because I have so many things I want to say on such a wide variety of topics, I just never seem to get to them.

Yet, here I am. Today, I made it.

I spotted photos of clouds on my phone and with heavy rain showers lurking nearby, it seemed the ideal time to write about them.

I've always loved clouds. For as long as I can remember, I've found them to be interesting, curious, imagination-provoking. I love that they're always changing and so I rarely get bored when it comes to these capsules of suspended water above my head.

In fact, the only time I noticed I did get really bored with clouds is when they've gone missing altogether from my life. This has happened twice that I recall. Once, when I lived in the Australian desert, in Alice Springs and we used to have so many clear days and nights that I remember looking up at the sky and getting SO excited when there was finally One Small Cloud In The Endless Blue Sky!

I seem to recall that my first dry season on Bali felt similar. Though, I don't remember the piercing blue skies. Instead, I feel like it was more a hazy, heavy sky. But it lacked the distinction of white clouds against a blue sky.

Here in Brisbane we get some rippers of storms. So it's not uncommon to see very dark grey, almost black clouds if a storm is rolling in, especially if it coincides with sunset - as it often does.

It was doing that tonight, but I forgot to grab a photo while I was at the highest point in our street and now, with a heavy rain shower due any minute, I'm hesitant to leave the house. So you'll just have to imagine :P

But before I go, I want to share an incredible cloud pattern that covered the sky here just two days ago. Apparently, these (in photo below) are called "altocumulus undulatus clouds" (source). According to that article (linked), they were responsible for producing our very cold weather yesterday. Who knew?!

Clouds: fascinating creatures, I must say.

All photos taken by me on my little phone :)
