My Cygnett 5000mAh power bank stopped charging beyond one LED, so I cracked it open to see if the battery was still any good. Turns out the LiPo cell inside is just fine! In this video, I remove the Li-ion polymer pack for the first time and test charging it with a TP4056 module (similar type) and discharging it using a USB step-up converter. Not sure what I’ll do with the battery yet, but it feels good not to waste it.
Let me know if you’ve ever salvaged a battery, what did you turn it into?
