Agriculture is life. No matter how rich or advanced the world gets, we all need food to survive; that's why they say food is life. Reasons why farming will always be one of the most important activities for human survival and humans will never allow anything that will stop the production of food.
The government can ban anything but make nothing happen to food and its production. Currently people are beginning to go into agriculture on a large scale. But it is not easy to manage a farm, whether large or small, without the help of machines. With modern technology that helps make farming easy, the machines are too expensive because you will buy the machine and still have to hire workers, especially if it is a large farm. It makes the price of goods become very expensive.
In my country, most of our food comes from the northern states because they do a lot of farming, and food is very cheap in that area. In places like Plateau, Kano, and Kaduna, even in the middle belt, food is also very cheap. But it's not the same when it comes to the South because bringing the food from the North or middle down to the South, the cost of transportation alone makes it very costly.
Personally, I see agriculture as something very important and valuable. I have been deeply involved in large and small farming while growing up. My grandma was a farmer. I remember always going to meet her during planting season, and she would always make us all plant maize, cassava, and yam. Most times it takes us months or weeks to finish it.
As I grow older now, I would like to go into mechanized farming so more food can be produced. Although mechanized agriculture has its good and bad sides. On the good side, with the help of machines, work is being done faster, with more production, and it reduces stress on farmers too. One good thing about the machine is that what will take three weeks to do it will finish in one week. The bad side is that the machines are expensive to maintain, and the cost of buying them is high too. Most local laborers will lose their jobs.
I can only imagine how people will feel if there is an app that can connect farmers directly to people who need fresh produce or just food. While I was studying product management, we were trying to build an app like that targeted farmers especially from the north. You can just stay in the comfort of your home and order fresh farm produce. I will name my app Fresh from Farm. It will be simple and easy to navigate; farmers get to post their produce.
