Peace is nice but I miss the noises

Living a minimalist life has really made a lot of things calmer for me. I don't have too much clutter, and I don't feel the pressure to always buy new things or to keep up with the latest trend. My space is smaller and easier to manage, and my mind feels lighter and freer. But if I'm being honest, there is one thing from my old, non-minimalist life that I still miss quietly: the big family and friends gathering at my old house.

Then, I had a very big room. People often come over without me worrying if there will be enough room for them. In the evening the living room is always full of laughter, music, and the smell of food cooking in the kitchen. Birthdays are filled with noises, decorations, and games that usually go on for a long time, children running up and down, and adults gisting and laughing out loud. My house was full of energy and always lively, but now everywhere is quiet.

But now in a smaller place, I can't host many people the same way anymore. I would rather meet them in small cafes, little sit-outs, restaurants, or sometimes the beach. These moments are still special, but they can't be compared with an in-house party with family and friends. I really miss that moment of everyone being together under one roof, eating, sharing jokes, bantering with one another, and just being ourselves.

Being a minimalist brought me peace, but it also took away a little of that joyful noise. One thing I have learned as a minimalist is that minimalism is not about cutting everything out, but it is all about keeping the things that truly matter to us. As for me, it's the memories of all those gatherings that remind me to keep finding ways to stay connected even if it's different now.
