Hello friends and Hivians. Well I'm about to share my first day in Boston with you. A group of 8 of us decided to check out the streets of Boston. Now only 3 of us are not from this area which includes me. This activity was sort of an all day thing.
This walk started shortly after getting picked up at the airport. Well some large cities just dont have the best parking options. There really isn't any street parking in Boston you have to find a parking garage. We found one and we had to park clear up on the roof top. While I was up there I took these shots. Boston has a lot of old original building and some modern ones as well. The last time I was here not near as many of the modern ones.
Well this was going to be a lot of walking so one of our first course of actions was to get some food. Hey we need a little energy to charge us up. We checked out Quincy Market which is basically a walk in food court. Outside loud music was playing and a few street entertainers were performing trying to earn some dough. I was thinking maybe it would be less crowded than the streets but I was wrong, haha.
I have been craving a lobster roll for quite a long time. You cant really get a good one or authentic one in the Midwest. Now that I'm in the New England area of the U.S. that craving is now gone. I got a bit ahead of myself and took a bite or two before realizing I should take a picture to capture it. A heads up, two days later I even had a bigger better one I managed to capture a photo of before digging in, haha. Sorry you will have to wait to see that one another day!
There is surely no shortage of boats floating in the Atlantic Ocean in Boston. I seen sail boats, commercial fishing boats, tour boats, freight boats, and cruise ships. The tour boat I captured was conducting a wedding at the top. My only regret is not really having much time to take more pictures. One of my nieces was kind of our prompt to tour guide and was walking rather fast.
There was no let down on the total number of people on street even as it got darker. I guess expected for Saturday and it being an extended weekend due to the holiday here.
The atmosphere of the downtown is filled with the past. Older cobblestone is still present in some areas. Also a lot of older buildings which are a few hundred years old. So much activity on the streets at night. We witnessed a marching band in the Italian section of town. Also walked through a residential section where radios were blasted and residents were partying responsibly while enjoying a cold beverage.
Oh a cannoli! This one was super crispy and so creamy defintely a pleasant treat for the taste buds. My brother brought us to a place that is apparently world renowned for them. I took his word for it and the lines waiting for it might have been a sign. The place is called Bova's Bakery on the North end of Boston. When do you want one? Well anytime is fine because its open 24 hours.
After enjoying the cannoli we headed back to the parking garage and the walk was a rap! This post serves as my #wednesdaywalk made possible by @tattoodjay
Hope you enjoyed the walk. Take care, stay safe and enjoy the rest of the week. Next walk will be in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island as I stayed very close to the border. Until next time.
