Lysander's Trial #2 Tournament
What's up everyone! I played in this "Lysander's Trial #2" tournament the past week, and before it started I made a promise: I will upload every single match from this tournament, win or lose!
Pretty daunting thing to promise from the start, as I could've lost in the first or second round, or done something so embarrassing that I'd be horrified to put it up on YouTube.
But the only way to get better is to try hard, make mistakes, and learn from them. So I knew that uploading these games would help me in the long run.
Round of 256
Vs. Singular.

Round of 128
Vs. Jumpstart. He was in the top 10 of Infinite Mana's Power Rankings leaderboard for some time, and has taken down at least 1 tournament in the past. So definitely not an easy opponent! #70th All-Time in the Earnings chart.

Round of 64
Vs. DragonLord626. His player ID is lower than mine, so he's been around for a LONG time! One of the first 200 people to sign up for GU, and he has lifetime 3 tournament cashes.

Round of 32
Vs. Clutch. The 2021 Player of the Year. #2 Power Rankings, #11 Legacy Rankings, #14 All-time Earnings ($1870 won). Wow. Tough task.

Post-Mortem
Losing to Clutch (again) was pretty sad, considering I got to go first 2 times, which is very rare, especially against Clutch! However, he drew much better cards than me (Underbrush Boar! Why you show up for him and not me?) and made a really nice substitution for The Hunt and wrecked me with it. Wasn't expecting that one!
The second game I'd be lying if I said it wasn't tilting as hell to have a bag of tricks covering half the screen the entire game. I'm slow enough at math, hiding the creatures from view was just plain suffocating to my focus. I still think I played ok and had an out for lethal at the very end, but couldn't get it done.
I'm sure I also made some misplays and I'm sure you will all point them out! But that's the only way to get better! Find the mistakes in your game, and fix them.
This is two straight tournament cashes for me! To be clear, they were rather small cashes but I did have to win quite a number of matches to accomplish this feat so I'm still proud of them, regardless how small.
In the Superb Owl III tournament I ran into CautionFun and busted out in the Rd of 16 after an epic 5 game match. I took home $25 in ETH. This tournament I take home something pitiful like 2 GODS tokens and 1 rare Mortal Judgement pack. So between the two tournaments I won $25.99! 🤣
But still, in the last two events, I eventually lost to the 2021 Player of the Year winner and the 2022 Player of the Year winner. I guess I can't be too sad about that.
