TRUTH ABOUT SOLITUDE. In a world that constantly demands our attention and view, it’s easy to confuse solitude with loneliness "Yes I know. People often view being alone as something to be feared, bad or avoided. We live in a time when we’re never truly alone social media, constant notifications, and the pressure to be always connected make it harder than ever to experience true solitude. But I’ve learned that solitude is not something to shy away from or run away from. In fact, it holds a power that can transform us.

As a medical student, I’m rarely without the presence of others. Whether it’s classmates, professors, patients, practical session or academics staff, I’m constantly surrounded by worker and student(People in general). The nature of this profession requires a great deal of interaction, collaboration, and teamwork. And yet, some of the most powerful insights I’ve had or obtained didn’t come from discussions in study groups or late night talks with colleagues. They came in the moments of quiet and rest, the times when I was alone with my thoughts. It’s in those moments of solitude that I’ve found clarity and peace, and it’s where I’ve learned the most about myself and the kind of doctor I want to become if I was to practice eventually.

Solitude isn’t just about being alone. It’s about creating the space for reflection,.self improvement and self discovery. In the noise of our daily lives, it’s easy to lose track of what truly matters for us. But when we take time to sit in stillness, we allow ourselves to listen to both our inner voices and the world around us. In the presence of being solitude, we’re able to ask the big questions like : Who are we beyond the roles we play? What drives us? What are our true values and passions? And most importantly, how can we use this understanding to better serve others? image.png Source

For me, this process of self discovery and improvement has been crucial in my journey toward becoming a healthcare provider for long time. The long hours of studying and the demanding and sometime toxic nature of medical school can sometimes leave me feeling tired or overwhelmed, and it’s easy to get lost in the pressures of exams and expectations. But when I step away from all of that, when I take a moment of solitude, I’m reminded of why I started this journey in the first place: to help others( friend, family, colleagues and soon), to make a difference, and to serve those who need it the most.

It’s in these quiet moments that I reconnect with my purpose. I find clarity on how I can be a better listener, a more compassionate caregiver, and a more thoughtful human being. Solitude gives me the chance to assess where I’ve been, where I am and where I want to go. It helps me realize that the world isn’t asking for perfection from me but it’s asking for authenticity, for genuine care, and for a willingness to show up fully for others when needed.

Obviously it’s not just in medical school that we need solitude, I'm just saying this from my position and where I am presently . Everyone, regardless of their career or life situation, benefits from taking time alone for has long as they want. We all need moments to pause, reflect, and recharge. In the fast running pace of modern life, we often forget that growth requires stillness and ability to listen. We need solitude to hear our own thoughts, to identify our deepest desires, and to find the strength to pursue and achieve them. image.png source

Be relaxed and Don’t be afraid of solitude. It’s not a curse or a sign of failure. Solitude is a everytime gift, a chance to pause, breathe, and realign ourselves and purpose with what truly matters. It’s in these quiet, solitary moments that we often discover our greatest truths. And in understanding ourselves, we gain the insight and energy to serve the world more better and fully. Whether we’re in medicine, business, or any other field we find ourselves, we can’t make the kind of impact we want if we don’t first take the time to understand who we are and what we stand for.

So, next time you feel the need to be surrounded by noise, social media disturbance or distraction, try embracing solitude instead, it's better . It might feel uncomfortable and unwanted at first, but it’s in those moments of quiet that we find our deepest answers. And sometimes, it’s in the stillness that we find our greatest calling. 1000128326.jpg
