It was a Solid Saturday making over 0.8 units of profit which puts me back in the green on the week after a difficult start. It all will be up to the matches on Sunday so let's get to it as there are only a couple of hours left before the start of the first match...

Stvv vs Genk

Stvv has a super easy schedule at the start of the season and now is in a stretch where they play all the big teams while their winning streak was broken just before with a draw against and a loss against Westerlo. This was followed by a 2-0 loss against Club Brugge last week in a match where they missed Ito. They didn't play bad but at the same time only created 0.42xg while they got 2.47xg against. So the general expectation is that they still are an ok team but a regression to the mean in the standings where they currently are 4th is very likely as they are facing the good teams now. Ito will be back and this is their match of the year against rivals Genk. So it can be expected that Stvv will put in a ton of effort to make the life of Genk difficult. Genk is making the opposite move as they had a difficult start of the season where good performances systematically didn't result in points because their focus was too much on the offense which left them vulnerable in the defense. Their offense was not good enough to overcome this gap. They did tank some confidence with a 0-1 win against Rangers last thursday in Europe which was mostly played vs 10 players. The win was still deserved and might give them the needed spark to go on a big winning streak which I see happening at some point for them in the league. However, at the same time they picked up some fatigue and their might be some rotation. So the initial -0.25 line on them was kind of tempting as they are a team that I'm looking to back but I was not willing to pull the trigger fearing the combination of fatigue / subs and Stvv who have this marked as their match of the year. By now, the line has moved to -0.5 which for sure is a no-go. A lot depends on the situation of if the coach will play a bit more defensive and line-up from Genk. The pre-game bet I was willing to take a small gamble on is 0.1 unit on Genk To Win & Both To Score @ 3.640 which feels like an outcome that is more likely compared to the odds. I do expect a match picture where Genk takes the initiative and Stvv lures i the counter. If this is confirmed early on I might take a small try on the Genk 1H corners handicap.

Cercle Brugge vs AA Gent

AA Gent has been a team that I have been backing the last 3 weeks as I see them as potentially way better compared to what the market gives them. Last week, they had a major off day against Anderlecht just putting up a bad overall performance. Still they were beaten only by an unfortunate own goal and they still only lost half against the handicap while winning half on the 1h line. They had enough rest as the mid-week match was on Tuesday so I don't expect this to be a problem for them. I also kind of expect a reaction with a better performance today and their remain a team I'm looking to back until their lines get adjusted or if they once again dissapoint today. Cercle Brugge is one of those teams that I don't have the best grip on right now. They played a 0-0 draw against Mechelen away last week where they played a good 1st half. They only lost 1 match in their last 5 but are still in a playdown spot. They also rank 3rd best in xg created in the last 4 weeks. So I do kind of understand that they are the favorite today and I only took a tiny initial 0.1 unit bet on AA Gent +0.25 @ 2.000 along with a more speculative 0.02 units on AA Gent -1.5 @ 7.524 as I can see a scenario where AA Gent just wins this outright with a couple of goals difference. I do expect this to be a match where both teams are willing to go forward and I'm leaning toward an Over, BTS, or Corners Over, but need some kind of confirmation first.

Charleroi vs Kv Mechelen

Charleroi went on a small winning streak with a 3-1 win against poor Dender where they remained a team I didn't trust, this was followed by a 2-3 win over Cercle Brugge which could have gone both ways even though cercle was quite poor as Charleroi finished at 100%. The winning confidence translated in a 0-1 win over a poor Genk who were vulnarable in the counter and Charleroi putting up a solid defense after taking the lead. Last week out of nowhere they ended up losing at home with 1-2 aganst Zulte-Waregem mainly because they took a red card even though their mentality especially before the match looked excellent. Today they are missing Guiagon but Scheidler seems to have mostly solved their striker problem. Mechelen is a team I see as one who at some point will get in a big losing streak while right now at times they positively surprise. They are 6th in the standing coming off a 0-0 draw at home against Cercle which they could have lost,and a 1-1 draw away against Standard which could have been a 0-0. They tend to crawl back when they take the lead which offers some corner potential on the opponents. Their main trend so far is that they have been overish in corners with a total average of 13.25 and 16 away from home. I might wait a minute or 2 and take a small try on the over corners at higher odds. For now, I'm just staying away No Pre-Game Bets

Dender vs La Louviere

Dender so far has clearly been the weakest team in the league and they are last with 2 draws so far and 6 losses in a row, where they only managed to score once. I do expect them to start today with the needed drive and belief that they can take a win against La Louviere who is a promoted team with a low budget. The visitors have somewhat been a revelation this season putting up some good performances. Purely on those I would put them as the slight favorite today. They have shown also that they are able to lock things down which is what they do when they take the lead. With the lack of scoring power for Dender along with the bad streak, it might be deadly for them to fall behind. I took only 0.1 units on Dender Team Total Under 1 @ 2.020 based on their 0.47xg in the last 4 matches while La Louviere have shown that they are capable of defending. I will keep it at that for now.
